A Sheffield pioneer is to thank for football floodlights.

John Tasker made the first ever football floodlights, which were used at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane in 1878.

Not only that, but he introduced the circular ball to Sheffield’s football.

Find his blue plaque on the site of his workshop, what is now the Frog and Parrot pub.
