⚠️ Important event update: Out of This World is going ahead today, but activities have been moved indoors due to Storm Boelo.

The safety of visitors, staff, volunteers and performers is our priority. Following ongoing monitoring of the weather and advice relating to Storm Boelo, we have taken the decision to move activities indoors to ensure the event can take place safely.

⭐ Some activities that were originally planned for outdoor spaces now have limited capacity and will require a free ticket.
⭐ Free tickets can be collected from Town Hall Reception, which will act as the event box office today.
⭐ Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability.

If you need assistance during the event, please speak to a member of staff or one of our stewards.

Before travelling, please check weather and public transport updates and follow our WhatsApp channel for further event updates.

Spend the day with a Sheffield City Council Park Ranger.

At Woolley Wood, near Shiregreen and Wincobank, James lifts the lid on some of the crucial work he and his team do to keep Sheffield’s amazing green spaces looking their best.

Litter picking, grass cutting, and woodland maintenance are just some of the many jobs the Rangers do.

What an amazing job they do for our city!

People in Sheffield are invited to share their ideas on the new public artwork for the Uriah Rennie Leisure Centre at Springs Leisure Centre.

Uriah Rennie was the first black football referee to officiate in the Premier League and remains a historic figure in Sheffield's football history.

Springs Leisure Centre will be renamed in honour of the sporting icon.

The session is an opportunity to hear more about the public art project and help shape the artwork that will form part of the leisure centre.

The workshop takes place on Wednesday 28 October, from 2pm to 5pm.

The new artwork will celebrate Uriah’s life and his impact on Sheffield. It will be part of the new leisure centre named in his honour.

You can book a creative workshop from 2pm to 3pm or 3pm to 4pm. You can also drop in from 4pm to 5pm. No booking is needed for the drop-in session.

Some highlights from today!

We brought people together at Alder Bar in Kelham Island to celebrate Sheffield being named one of the four shortlisted cities for the UK City of Culture 2029 title.

Leader of the Council, Fran Belbin was joined by people involved in the UK City of Culture 2029 bid such as street artist Peachzz and music icon Jon McClure.

It was great to see amazing and talented people come together to celebrate our brilliant city!

What a moment for Sheffield.

Today, we brought together people from across Sheffield’s cultural community to celebrate our city being shortlisted for UK City of Culture 2029.

This is a huge moment for Sheffield. It is thanks to the people and communities who make our city such a creative and exciting place.

There is lots more to come. But today was a chance to celebrate how far we have come and the people helping to tell Sheffield’s story.

We’re shortlisted. Now let’s show the country what Sheffield can do.

A greener Sheffield is taking shape.

Councillors backed plans to help cut carbon emissions, support clean energy and prepare the city for climate change.

Good progress is already being made across Sheffield.

Carbon emissions have fallen by almost a quarter since 2017.
More than 23,000 trees were planted in 2025 and 2026.
Investment is helping improve homes, transport and renewable energy.

We know there is more to do. But Sheffield is moving in the right direction.

We will keep working with communities across the city to make Sheffield cleaner, greener and better prepared for the future.

Our Lord Mayor Cllr Andrew Sangar proudly represented Sheffield in Paris today.

Together with South Yorkshire Active Lives Commissioner Ed Clancy, the Lord Mayor was invited to the official route presentation for the Le Tour de France and Le Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.

The event is held each year by race organisers A.S.O. (Amaury Sport Organisation) and gives details of all host towns, decisive mountain stages, time trials, and final destinations.

The Tour de France Grand Départ 2027 comes to Sheffield in July next year.

Keep a look out – over the next nine months, we will be sharing details of all the ways we will be helping Sheffield to celebrate this huge event.
