As you are probably aware parts of the A360 will be closed for three months as work begins in preparation for the Stonehenge Tunnel.

Work to supply electricity for National Highways’ A303 Amesbury to Berwick Down tunnel past Stonehenge is scheduled to start in April.

To facilitate the power supply for future construction and the tunnel in the long term, a section of the A360, between the junction of The Avenue and Longbarrow junction on the A303.

There is a 7.5 tonne weight restriction through the valley but I expect we will see a lot more traffic than normal and possibly larger vehicles as well so drive safely and fingers crossed it won’t cause too much disruption.

We had our new lawn mower delivered this afternoon by a lovely chap from C&O Tractors in Wilton.

We wanted to give Carl a tip for a job well done, but he told us about his wonderful Daughter Hollie and what she is doing.

She is only 9 years old, whilst truck racing last year with her family she liked one of the trucks called "Doddie" named after the famous rugby player Doddie Weir who sadly passed away from MND.

When the truck driver explained why his lorry was called "Doddie she turned to her Dad and said I'd like to raise money as well.
How sweet is she and she was only 8 years old.

So here she is with her Dad and they are going to be doing two laps on each of these racing tracks to help raise money for Doddie Weir and others with MND.

If you feel inclined please go to her GoFundMe page and help her raise much-needed funds for this debilitating disease which still has no cure.

URGENT UPDATE FROM SUSTAINABLE AMESBURY – DEVELOPMENT AT VINEY’S FARM

If you read the Salisbury Journal, you will have seen that the developer who wants to build hundreds of houses on Viney’s Farm is holding a public consultation event on 5 July at Antrobus House, on Salisbury Road in Amesbury, from 3pm to 8:30pm.

This is a BIG step. It means that they don’t just have vague ambitions to concrete over these green fields at some point in the future – they have plans to do it very soon. They even know how they will lay out the new roads and buildings.

We all need to show everyone involved that Amesbury won’t put up with this gigantic speculative development on our precious and historic landscape.

Here’s what you can do!

Put the 5th of July in your diary to pop into Antrobus House for a minute, and tell them loud and clear that we don’t accept their plans. This consultation by the developer is intended to legitimise the plans – we need to make sure that the response shows clearly that Amesbury doesn’t want this development!

Visit our website and fill in the form – this will directly email the people at the council who would have to approve any development at Viney’s Farm. Let them know that the community is opposed to the proposals. https://www.sustainableamesbury.org/how-we-can-stop-this

Leave a comment underneath the story on the Salisbury Journal website. The developer’s paid planning consultant is quoted in the article saying what a great place this would be for new houses. Leaving comments under the story shows that as a community we don’t agree! https://www.salisburyjournal.co.uk/news/journalnewsindex/20228502.plans-unveiled-new-development-vineys-farm-amesbury/

Write into the Salisbury Journal letters page as well. You can email [email protected] with your letter.

PLEASE SHARE AS FAR AND WIDE AS YOU CAN!

STORM EUNICE

Weather forecast from Boscombe Down:

Tonight: A dry start to the evening with clear spells. Storm Eunice will bring heavy rain overnight with strengthening winds and widespread severe gales by the end of the night. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Friday: Storm Eunice will bring very strong and damaging winds.

There is an AMBER WARNING in place for our area, but no flooding risk identified.

Given the serious weather situation, Graham Parks is activating the Community Emergency Plan. To this end he is placing warnings on the new valley website (www.woodford-valley.co.uk), Lower Woodford Whatsapp and the PCC page.

He will also place one of the CEP generators at Woodford Village Hall so there will be a location with electricity. Rae Owen will have a 'phone that does not rely on electricity available to anyone who wishes to make contact with family/friends and for calls inwards.

Your designated contact for Lake is Eddie Deighton, one of the administrators for this page.

Please take care tonight and tomorrow if storm Eunice hits us with all her force.

The new Woodford Valley Website is now live!

Here's the announcement from the Woodford Valley 2021 Community Group page:

After nearly a year of effort a new website for the valley has finally gone live. It can be found at www.woodford-valley.co.uk . It’s the result of a large cooperative effort by representatives of the various parish councils, the church and the village hall. It replaces the previous village hall website and we hope it will be your go to source for information about the valley, its history, organisations, businesses and what’s on. There are lots of photos of our beautiful valley, past events and its people and many pages dedicated to the various activities available ranging from the cricket club to the ukulele group via bell-ringing and the book club. There is a lot on it. Please check it out.

Welcome to the Woodford Valley Website – a central source of news and information on all the activities, people and organisations in this lovely valley.
