Neighbourhood Watch have released a recent Scam Alert.

Those who use Minecraft need to keep alert for potential malware scams.

"With millions of users worldwide, Minecraft is a popular video game in which players build virtual worlds. It has a huge following and is particularly popular with children.

Scammers have previously targeted Minecraft fans, and now cybersecurity firm McAfee has warned that it has found 240 scam websites responsible for distributing malware.

In this particular case, the malware has been found promoted in links from Minecraft gaming videos on YouTube.

If malware is installed on your device, fraudsters may be able to use it to steal passwords and access accounts, files or even your device's we**am. McAfee has warned that, in some cases, fraudsters have used the malware to harass and cyberbully victims.

Fraudsters were found to be building polished and 'well-edited' videos with 'background music' to encourage views. One video McAfee found had more than 7,500 views. Some comments beneath the videos also claimed the files being promoted were safe to download.

Since January, McAfee has seen 116,000 victim infections linked to this scam, with an average of 2,000-3,000 new incidents a day."

Here is their advice:

"If you or someone you know becomes a victim of this scam, it’s important not to engage with the fraudster or follow their instructions.

To remove malware from a Windows computer:

Select the Start button.
1. Open Settings.
2. Go to Apps (in Windows 10, select Apps > Apps & features; in Windows 11, select Apps > Installed apps).
3. Review the list of installed programs and look for anything you don’t recognise. If you find something suspicious, select it and click Uninstall.
4. Right-click your Recycle Bin and select Empty Recycle Bin.
5. Open File Explorer (the yellow folder icon), go to your Downloads folder, and delete any files you don’t recognise or didn’t want to download.

On a Mac:
1. Open Finder and your Applications folder.
2. See if there are any apps you don’t recognise or remember downloading.
3. If there are any, delete them by selecting the app, then choosing File > Move to Bin.
4. Once done, empty the Bin (right-click the Bin icon in the Dock and select Empty Bin).
5. Follow the same steps in your Downloads folder."

This is your opportunity to view illustrative ideas about the site, ask questions and provide feedback ahead of the outline planning submission.

Here's some background information before your visit:

Wiltshire’s PCC Philip Wilkinson has a statutory responsibility to ensure Wiltshire Police has the right buildings to do its job properly. This includes providing and maintaining police stations and facilities that support effective policing, protect public safety and meet modern operational and security needs.

The proposed Southern Policing Hub at Old Sarum would provide a new home for neighbourhood and response teams, as well as other operational and support services, helping officers get out into communities more efficiently while giving staff facilities designed for modern policing.

There are currently no plans for a custody suite though the land provides flexibility should policing requirements change in the future.

Visit Laverstock Water Meadows on Open Farm Sunday 7th June 2026
Celebrating 20 years of connecting people, food and farming

On Sunday 7th June, farms across Britain will open their gates for the 20th anniversary of Open Farm Sunday, farming’s annual open day. Visitors will have the chance to step beyond the farm gate, discover where their food comes from and meet the people who produce it with care, pride and innovation. So, make a date to visit Laverstock Water Meadows. Please travel to the Water Meadows on foot by bike or on public transport as car parking is very limited.

Open Farm Sunday is a fantastic, fun and informative family day out – offering a unique chance to build a stronger connection with your food and the countryside. On the day, myself, David Burton, and other Trustees of Devenish Bradshaw Charitable Trust who own and manage over 60 acres of Laverstock Water Meadows will be on hand to talk about how we farm with nature and the steps we take to care for the land, wildlife and the environment. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, explore the water meadows and see for yourself how sustainable farming works in practice.
Come and join us at Laverstock Water Meadows for Open Farm Sunday on the 7th June between 11am and 2 pm and learn more about why hedgerows matter, how hay has been made through the ages and what makes water meadows special for nature.

There will be tractors on display, a self-guide nature trail and the opening of our natural play trail built by our volunteers using materials from the water meadows.
We will have concept models, plans and diagrams for our Barn revival project which shines a light on how science, technology and innovation help us to farm more sustainably and provide a new community resource for all to enjoy. We are looking for help to shape this exciting project to convert a dilapidated barn to a state of the art building demonstrating the best of sustainable farming.

David Burton said:

“ We are excited to be hosting our Open Farm Sunday event for a third year in the row. Last year we were so pleased to see a steady stream of people arriving at the water meadows on foot or from the bus which stops right next to the Cow Lane entrance of the water meadows. Our community orchard extension was opened at last year’s event and now we are thrilled to be opening our natural play trail. Hopefully we will be opening the first phase of our barn restoration work at the 2027 event. The water meadows are full of wildlife at this time of year with birds in full song, clouds of buttercups and numerous butterflies in flight. The cattle are roaming across our largest meadow busy keeping the grassland in good health.”

Annabel Shackleton, Open Farm Sunday Manager said: “For 20 years, farms across Britain have opened their gates to help build trust, inspire curiosity and show how farming with nature is shaping a more sustainable food future.
“Every event is different, but what they all share is a willingness to start conversations, answer questions and give visitors a real experience of farming. Open Farm Sunday helps turn food labels into lived experience and gives people the confidence to make informed choices about the food they buy. We really encourage you to visit and find out more.”
For further details on Laverstock Water Meadows and Open Farm Sunday visit www.farmsunday.org. Open Farm Sunday is managed by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), the leading organisation delivering more sustainable food and farming.
