Expectant parents in Rochdale are benefiting from enhanced mental health support during pregnancy, thanks to a nationally leading achievement by local health visitors.
Health visitors from the Northern Care Alliance's Health Visiting Service are among the first in the country, and the first NHS health visitors nationally, to become accredited facilitators of the NSPCC's Pregnancy in Mind programme.
Pregnancy in Mind is a free eight-week course designed to support expectant parents with their emotional wellbeing during pregnancy. The programme provides a safe and supportive space to:
✅ Better understand your mental health and wellbeing
✅ Learn practical coping strategies for stress and anxiety
✅ Practise mindfulness and relaxation techniques
✅ Connect with other expectant parents
✅ Develop a stronger bond with your baby before birth
By embedding the programme local families can access specialist support earlier and build trusted relationships with healthcare professionals before their baby arrives.
📅 The next Pregnancy in Mind course in Rochdale starts on 17 September ⏰ 4pm to 6pm 📍 Howard Street Family Hub
