Today we remember and honour the brave men who took part in the D-Day landings on 6th June 1944.

On the beaches of Normandy, thousands of British, Commonwealth and Allied servicemen faced extraordinary danger in the fight to liberate Europe from tyranny. Their courage, sacrifice and determination changed the course of history and secured the freedoms we enjoy today.

As the number of surviving veterans grows ever smaller, it is more important than ever that we keep their memory alive and ensure future generations understand the price that was paid for our liberty.

We owe a debt of gratitude that can never truly be repaid.

Lest We Forget.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our victory celebration, including our candidates, newly elected councillors, members, supporters, and branch officers.

These local elections have shown what can be achieved when people come together with a shared goal. With 14 newly elected Reform UK councillors across Salford, we have taken a major step forward, and none of this would have been possible without the hard work, dedication, and support of our members and the people of Salford who placed their trust in us.

This is just the beginning. As our branch continues to grow and strengthen, we look forward to delivering real change for local residents and building an even stronger future for Salford.

A special thank you to Dan Barker 4 Reform UK, our Regional Director, Sian Astley for Reform UK, Deputy Chair of the Greater Manchester branches, Jacob Barlow, Chair of the Greater Manchester branches, and our fellow councillors for joining us and helping make the evening such a memorable celebration.

The momentum is building, change is happening, and there are many more great things to come.

Thank you to all involved on this.

This is something our community desperately needs.

The question should not simply be about the upfront cost. We should be asking how much money could be saved in the long run and how much easier it would be for local residents to access healthcare close to home.

A local walk-in centre would help reduce pressure on overcrowded A&E departments, cut unnecessary hospital visits, and ensure people receive treatment sooner before minor issues become more serious and costly to treat. It would also make healthcare more accessible for elderly and vulnerable residents who often struggle to travel further afield for basic medical care.

Taxpayers deserve healthcare services that are efficient, accessible, and focused on prevention rather than crisis management. The real debate should be about the long-term savings to the NHS, better health outcomes for residents, and delivering the local services our community has been crying out for.
