We have been getting into the Halloween spirit with some fantastic pumpkin carving, all while listening to well-known Halloween songs and enjoying a little spooky singalong! 👻

We started by carefully cutting the tops off our pumpkins before scooping out all the insides. Then came the fun part — getting creative and designing our very own spooky faces to display on the front! 🎃

Our finished creations now sit proudly outside our home! Aren’t they spooktacular!🍂

We had a wonderful time visiting Cuckoo Bridge Nursery Pumpkin Patch! 🎃

We enjoyed choosing our very own pumpkins to bring home, taking a fun-filled barrel ride around the grounds pulled by a tractor, testing our aim in a game of shoot out, and showing off our skills at mini golf! 🚜

After all that excitement, we finished off with a lovely lunch before heading home with our pumpkins and plenty of smiles. ✨

Who says you’re ever too old to enjoy a little pumpkin picking, a tractor ride and some good old-fashioned fun? Never! 🙌🏻

We were delighted to welcome ‘Somethin’ Else’ to our home for the very first time for their fantastic ‘Rocktober 50s and 80s’ show! 🤩

With a brilliant mix of ‘used gags and old songs’, Lou and Mike certainly brought the house down! From residents, friends and families up on their feet to those dancing away in their chairs, everyone was tapping their toes, singing along and having a wonderful time. We’ve already been asked when they’ll be back! 🕺💃

A big thank you to Lou and Mike for helping us celebrate two of our residents’ birthdays, too, by leading everyone in a special rendition of Happy Birthday during the set. 🎂

Thank you for bringing so much laughter, music and joy to Nelson Lodge. We can’t wait to welcome you back for another fantastic performance! ✨

We are keeping active through our in-house Zest Wellbeing Programme, as our trained team provide regular physical activities designed to help improve mobility, reduce the risk of falls, promote better sleep and boost overall mood and wellbeing. ✨

Last week, our residents got their gloves on for our Seated Boxing Programme! 🥊 Using safe, gentle punches and movements, everyone had the chance to build strength, get their blood pumping and enjoy a fantastic workout from the comfort of their chairs. Just look at those fighting spirits! 👊🏼

We also love welcoming Claire from One Leisure - St Neots for our biweekly exercise sessions. Claire keeps everyone motivated with a wonderful combination of familiar songs, lively games and her warm approach, making exercise enjoyable, inclusive and full of smiles! 🎵

Whether we’re boxing, stretching, moving to music or joining in with a favourite song, every movement counts, and every smile matters! 💪🏼

Yesterday, we celebrated not one, but two birthdays – Mary and Anne! 🎂

Mary enjoyed celebrations at her Day Centre with friends, before coming home and continuing the party with us all, while Anne spent a lovely afternoon with friends and family, reminiscing over her magical days as Magik-An! 🪄

Both were entertained by our new duo ‘Somethin’ Else’, here at our home! A big thank you to Mike and Lou, for helping us sing Happy Birthday! ✨

Our Jolly Anchor Pub and Tea Room can be booked for your loved one’s birthday or special occasion, giving our residents the opportunity to celebrate with their family and friends here at Nelson Lodge! 🥂

Happy Birthday, Mary & Anne! 🎉

A day filled with laughter, creativity and connection at Topphome Court 💜

Residents enjoyed a special Wellness Day with therapy dogs, creative activities, gentle exercise, seated football and plenty of opportunities to chat and spend time together.

Resident Julie Hull summed it up perfectly:

“Nobody knows what someone is going through and this type of day makes a huge difference.”

It was lovely to see residents from Topphome Court and nearby Fernlea Lodge come together for a day with something for everyone.

A beautiful moment captured by Anchor - Orchard Gardens 💜

Some moments don’t need many words. ❤️

Our resident Dennis shared this sweetest moment with carer Megan this morning, resting his head on her shoulder during a quiet moment together. It’s gentle, genuine connections like this that make Orchard Gardens truly feel like home. 🏠

Earlier this month, we celebrated Arts in Care Homes Day a national campaign by the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA). The campaign shines a light on the creativity, talent and imagination of people living in our care homes.

Across Anchor, residents have been getting creative in all sorts of ways – from painting, poetry and pottery to soap making, digital art and handmade wreaths.

At Sandholme Fold, resident Margaret created a beautiful piece of diamond artwork, while Geoff at The Manor House Harrogate has been sharing poetry with friends.

Residents at Moore Place explored digital art through Stories that Connect Us, while colleagues at Gills Top joined residents for soap making.

At The Firs, therapeutic art has provided another way for residents to express themselves, while at Blackbrook House, residents visited Flatford to see the work of artist John Constable.

We’ve also seen creativity bringing people together, with residents at Silver Court making welcome cards and residents at The Manor House Knaresborough creating autumnal wreaths to raise money for Happy Wanderers Ambulance Service.

These are just a few examples of the creativity happening across our care homes. Art can provide opportunities to express yourself, share experiences, connect with others and continue doing the things you enjoy.

We’re proud to celebrate the creativity of our residents – and the colleagues who help make these opportunities possible.

🌟 A Helping Hand from Patsy 🌟

This morning, our lovely resident Patsy was keen to lend a helping hand and assisted our housekeeping team by helping to push the towel trolley around the home. 🧺💜

Small acts of kindness like these help create a wonderful sense of purpose, teamwork, and community within Orchard Gardens. Patsy was delighted to get involved, and our housekeeping team certainly appreciated the extra support! 😊

Thank you, Patsy, for starting the day with such a positive attitude and for showing that every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference. ⭐

For some residents, that's taking part in Be Active. For others, it's joining a Virtual Book Club or connecting with people who share similar interests.
