Over the last few weeks our cadets have been all over the place enjoying activities such as Adventure Training, a 3 day camp, Flight Simulators, Shooting and a Water park visit.

Staff have also been busy with assisting on these camps, transporting, and also having a CPD day on the Long Range at Millpool to get the Cadets shooting the L98 again.

Yesterday evening, the cadets were being issued with new MTP camoflague uniform which has been purchased by our Civilian Committee to ensure our cadets have the latest uniform and equipment.

We had the pleasure to present 2 Blue Space qualifications badges to Cpl Thomas and Cdt Heather, a Master Cadet badge to Sgt Stephens, Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award certificate and badge to Sgt Stephens and CI Haskayne received his Certificate of Appointment as a Civilian Instructor on the Squadron.(AK)

So what did you do this weekend???

Following on from last weeks post about our little trip to RAF Brize Norton and RNAS Yeovilton, we come back to the reason we became "Air Cadets"

Congratulations to Plt Off Bennellick who has qualified as a G1 Glider pilot on 626 Volunteer Gliding Squadron, and is now able to take Cadets flying! Secondly congratulations to CWO Lake on her 1st Solo flight and her continuing committment to Gliding at 626 as a Flight Staff Cadet!

Today saw 2 cadets and Plt Off Bennellick head over to RAF St Mawgan for Air Experience Flying with 2 Flying Training School, flying the Grob Tutor. Even the staff flew today which was an unexpected bonus.

All this is available to anyone who is a cadet and passed their mandatory aerospace training!

So, whats stopping you?? Recruiting now!

So what did you do this week??

Well, we went off for a visit to RAF Brize Norton and RNAS Yeovilton....

Organised by our Training Officer, Plt Off Bennellick, and with Flt Lt Kelly, Plt Off Cartwright, WO James and CI Beau-Mont as directing staff, some 20 cadets from 169, 1225 and 2533 Squadrons headed to RAF Little Rissington for a 3 day camp.

The visits to both Brize Norton and Yeovilton were brilliant and our thanks have to go to the ACLO at Brize Norton and also our hosts at Yeovilton for an excellent 2 days worth of visits. We visited an Atlas A400M Sqn, 501 (Logistics) Sqn and to Brize Air Traffic Control yesterday and then to the Fleet Air Arm Museum and 825 NAS and the Wildcat Training School today.

On behalf of all who attended we must thank both Stations for their hospitality and RAF Little Rissington CTC for some of the best cadet accomodation and catering we've seen in many years. But the biggest shout out has to go to Plt Off Bennellick for organising the camp - our first one for quite some time; our minibus driver, CI Beau-Mont for volunteering to drive us and all the rest of the staff for giving up there week to take the cadets away.

There will be lots of pictures no doubt, and we will share them to Squadrons via their OC's, so hopefully should see them early next week. But here is a flavour of what we did!

Interested?? Drop us a message here or email - [email protected] for more information, we are recruiting for new cadets and adult instructors NOW! (*AK)

It's been a strange few weeks after our temporary Building closure...

From our visit to our local neighbour - 1225 Sqn RAF Air Cadets, to Ten Pin Bowling, Indoor Rock Climbing and a MS Teams night we finally have a temporary home.

Our sincerest thanks to St Austell Sea Cadets who have allowed us to use their facilities to run our Squadron Nights. Congratulations for the recent wins at your recent SW Area Drill and Ceremonial championships!

Tonight was our first night, so building inductions with the Commanding Officer, then exploration of the facilities, some "speed" drill (in commands only), First Class training and cadets planning for the next few sessions with the Training Officer.

We are still recruiting even with this slight change, please contact us here or by e-mail: [email protected]

The last few weeks have seen the Cadets enjoying some social and adventure training sessions.

Last Wednesday the Cadets and Staff went to Ozzell Bowl for a few games of Ten-pin bowling. A much needed team building event, which was postponed from Christmas.

This week we have paraded with our friends from 2533(Bodmin) Squadron at RAF St Mawgan utilising their sports hall and indoor climbing wall facilities. Well done to CWO Treadgold and FS Best who completed their Indoor Climbing Assistant and Learn to Lead Climb qualifications at the weekend and put them to good use on Monday evening.

Reminder, there is no parade night this Wednesday.

Keep up the great work everyone! (AK)

This afternoon cadets and staff joined our friends 1225 Sqn RAF Air Cadets at the Eden Project for a social ice skating session.

Whilst initially apprehensive and reliant on the hand rail to keep their balance, they soon gained confidence to crack on and skate freely. No injuries were reported so thats a bonus!

We are recruiting still for new cadets, so if you are in School Year 8 and 12 years old minimum, please get in contact! (AK)
