‼️🚨 It’s outrageous that Hertsmere Borough Council are trying to dump up to 5000 houses (in the long-term) on our doorsteps here in London Colney and Colney Heath, where they know they can’t face the consequences at the ballot box.

As councillors Paul de Kort, Tony Lillico and Daisy Cooper MP made clear at last night’s public meeting to discuss the proposed Bowmans Cross site, we Lib Dems won’t stand for this.

We believe that Hertsmere's proposals fly in the face of national guidance to identify the most sustainable sites for new housing, and are politically motivated - especially given there are other more sustainable sites available.

The leader of St Albans district council is steering the authority in standing up to Government demands for 9,000 more new homes to be included in the new 2029 Local Plan.

St Albans Lib Dems had a fantastic time at Conference! ☀️🌊🏖️🍷

Sun, sea, sand, speeches... and even the occasional cheeky glass of Sauvignon!

It was inspiring to join Liberal Democrats from across the country to debate policy, share campaign ideas, take part in training, and learn from each other's experiences.

There was a real sense of energy and determination as members, MPs, and campaigners came together to discuss the challenges facing our country and how we can deliver positive change.

We were proud to be there supporting our two local Lib Dem MPs and representing St Albans.

Conference was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do: standing up for an open, liberal Britain, championing our communities, and taking the fight to Farage and Reform UK.

We Liberal Democrats stand with Ukraine and Ukrainians against Putin’s illegal war.

Councillor Helen Campbell, as Deputy Leader of the district council and on behalf of St Albans MP Daisy Cooper, joined members of the Ukrainian community who have made lives here in St Albans, to celebrate Ukrainian Independence Day at our cathedral.

Whilst there, Helen also met several young people who came here when they were young teenagers and have just received some amazing A-level results and are soon off to university. A huge congratulations!

St Albans is proud to welcome refugees; so many members of the St Albans community opened their doors and hearts to them, and we will steadfastly support them against the tyranny that Putin unleashed.
