Friends Of Valley Of Stone

Friends Of Valley Of Stone Friends of Valley of Stone - we aim to conserve and celebrate Rossendale's unique quarrying heritage We meet every 6 - 8 weeks at The Kimberley Club.

The Friends of Valley of Stone formed in 2011 at the end of the Heritage Lottery Funded Valley of Stone Project. We continue to conserve and promote the stone quarrying heritage of Rossendale and unique landscape this has formed. We continue to look after our key conservation sites - such as The Sawshed at Lee Quarry and the quarry trail at Thurnshead - including Cowclough Rake. We organise a prog

ramme of walks during the summer and winter months, these are interspersed with activity mornings or afternoons where we get stuck in cleaning, painting, removing weeds - continuing to conserve key sites. We also help other local groups - providing support for guided walks - leading local walks.
