A little reminder that this event is coming soon, if you were thinking shall I go or not, it’s almost sold out, just 12 tickets remain.

Are you brave enough to accompany the Victorian gentleman around the fort in the dark ?, the only light being that of the lantern that he carries on his shoulder as he walks around the grounds telling ghostly tales. Tales that take in local history, smuggling, witches and more, supported by characters that make unexpected appearances from out of nowhere (yes keep looking over your shoulder) travels that take you around the grounds, on the fort roof and deep underground.

Casemate 4, it now has the joinery installed, painted and weather proofed (from the outside) I can now concentrate on the inside as the weather changes.
The roof repair seems to have worked although in the last batch of rain it came through the roof in the diagonally opposite corner !.
Quick divert of labour and another roof repair carried out, fingers crossed. York stone step also put in place.

Work continues in the East Magazine where part of it is being restored to a museum show casing the military history of the Hoo Peninsula and the rest back to how it would have looked as a working Victorian magazine.
Pictured are the home made gun cotton canisters and the first of many information boards are on site and installed, very detailed and large at 6x4 ft in size.

We had a few millimetres of rain last night and I’m pleased to say it puddled on top and none came through to below. It’s now had two coats of solar reflective coating and we are keeping our fingers crossed.
Back working below now as the curved timber structure is due to arrive this week.

Casemate 4 water ingress. It was found above the leak that water was getting under the broken existing bitumen layer, when lifted it was wet underneath. This has now been removed, the recent sunshine has help enormously to dry things out and it’s now been re coated. Solar reflective layer next to match the rest of the roof and fingers crossed.
