A big well done to Councillor Karl Barnsley and all the village volunteers this morning for taking part in Operation Tobymory.

Thank you for making the village that little bit nicer. 👏🏻

Great to have the car park resurfaced, re-lined and re-opened! Thanks to everyone for your patience during the work.

Update on car park closure

As you will have seen if you have driven past, Ribchester Pope Croft Car Park is temporarily closed this week for re-surfacing work.

Ribble Valley Borough Council informs us that the main re-surfacing is due to take place on Wednesday and Thursday, (January 28 and 29), with line-marking planned for Friday (January 30). Please don't park on the car park whilst the work takes place.

We appreciate this is an inconvenience to all the regular users, but the results should make it worthwhile. Thanks for your co-operation during this week.

Lots of fresh information on the community noticeboard today, do take a look!

Please note - we are also having to use the community noticeboard for the parish council temporarily - it’s just until the parish council noticeboard gets repaired.

It was great to be joined by a number of residents at the Parish Council last night for a constructive meeting. We were also joined by our local PCSO Naz Patel.

One of the issues raised was speeding through the village. We have recently had a Speed Indicator Device (SpID) on Stonegate Lane, and one up the hill on Preston Rd, but they were only temporary. We are going to investigate how difficult it is to establish a more permanent one to record speed over a longer period.

It was also commented that speed in the centre of the village, particularly on Church Street, seems to have worsened over recent months.

If you have concerns about speeding in any part of the village, we would encourage you to record them on the Lancashire Constabulary Road Safety portal. These reports are then evaluated by a multi-agency team that includes Police, Fire, LCC, Highways, Traffic Managers and specialists who cover the accident statistics. The locations are then set for various enforcement actions by the Police, traffic surveys or Community Road Watch.

You can access the portal here - https://lancsroadsafety.co.uk/submit-concern/

Our next meeting is on October 20th in St Peter and Paul Parish Centre on Stydd Lane. There is a public participation item on the agenda for you to raise any area of concern with your Parish Council.

Hopefully you will have spotted the shiny new noticeboard in the village on the wall of Potters Barn (with thanks to them for allowing us to attach it!).

The noticeboard is there to publicise events in the village. If you have a poster you would like included in the board, please send us a Facebook message.

To make it as fair as possible, the poster needs to be time limited so it can be taken down when the event is over.

In the short term we will also have to include some Parish Council news until the Parish Council noticeboard outside the Premier has been reinstated.

Big thanks to John and Barry for putting the board up for us, great job!

Didn’t have chance to get your copy of the Millennium Book on Field Day?

It was fun reminiscing with Parishioners in the Field Day tent and also introducing what the village looked like 25 years ago to some of our newer Parishioners!

We found some extra copies so we reduced the price on the day to £5. We sold a good number, but still have copies left. If you didn’t get yours and would like one (for £5), please let us know in the comments or send us a message.

We’re happy to deliver in the village or nearby (within reason!).

Please remember that all the proceeds are going to help maintain the wonderful Millennium Garden.

Missed your chance to get hold of one of these amazing books that provide a record of Ribchester life at the Millennium?

You’ll have another chance at Field Day as we’ll be selling the remaining copies for £10 each in the marquee. All proceeds will go directly to looking after the beautiful millennium garden.

If you can’t get to Field Day, send us a DM and we’ll reserve any leftover copies for you. It’s 25 years on and there is a limited supply of remaining books… so they won’t be around forever!
