🌊 BIG NEWS FOR THE LIZARD🌊

Big news for the health and environment of residents of the Lizard: Grade-Ruan Parish Council has officially passed the Dowr Glan motion! ✍️💙

By signing, Grade-Ruan is taking a stand alongside communities across the Cornwall to demand better for our environment. We are officially declaring a Vote of No Confidence in South West Water. It’s time to stop treating our beautiful Cornish waters like a dumping ground and start prioritizing public health over corporate profit.

We need to keep this momentum surging! 💧

YOUR CALL TO ACTION:
Don't let the momentum stop at our borders. Please write to your local councillors today! Urge them to support the Dowr Glan motion at their next meeting. Every email sends a powerful message that Cornwall demands clean water.

Find the motion details, view the map of supporting councils, and get involved at: www.dowrglan.org

Let’s protect our coast together! ⚓️

Grateful to be serving on this Town Council.

Redruth Town Council is a Civility and Respect Council.

This means that the Council has signed a pledge agreeing that the Council will treat councillors, clerks, employees, members of the public, and representatives of partner organisations and volunteers with civility and respect in their roles and that it:

💛Has put in place a training programme for councillors and staff
💛Has signed up to the Code of Conduct for councillors
💛Has good governance arrangements in place, including staff contracts and a dignity at work policy
💛Will commit to calling out bullying, harassment, and intolerance if and when it happens
💛Will continue to learn from best practices in the sector and aspire to be a role model/champion council through, for example, the Local Council Award Scheme
💛Supports the continued lobbying for change in legislation to support the Civility and Respect Pledge, including sanctions for elected members where appropriate.

Redruth Town Council is committed to ensuring that all members of the community are treated inclusively and respectfully. We stand for equality, inclusion and diversity in all that we do.

When our Government wants pensioners , as well as others sitting or peacefully standing, to be arrested for holding up bits of cardboard with words demanding an end to the oppression of people of Gaza, together with the other actions mentioned by Siân Berry in her post, people everywhere need to be concerned, and to come together to stand up for the right to voice our perspectives.

One of many reasons why Redruth's Pride Day, organised by the Bond Street Collective, and supported by so many people in Redruth, is an act of joy and strength in unity for inclusivity.

"This verdict will have a gigantic chilling effect on our wider rights to protest."

Siân Berry MP on the Court of Appeal upholding the proscription of Palestine Action
