The Inspectors’ Report was delivered to the Council on Friday, 21 August 2026 and this signifies the formal closure of the Examination.

An extraordinary meeting of the Full Council has been called for 7pm on Wednesday 9th September, in the Council Chamber at the District Council Offices on St Peter’s Street, to decide whether to adopt the Local Plan.
Members of the Public can attend this meeting and Cllr Mitchell will be speaking in his capacity as District Councillor for Redbourn.

The Inspectors’ Report concludes that with the recommended Main Modifications, the St Albans City & District Council Local Plan is sound, legally compliant and capable of adoption.

There are only small changes from the Main Modifications published for consultation from 13 April to 26 May 2026.

The Inspectors' Report and final Main Modifications can be viewed below.

Across the country there have been more than 1,000 wildfires already this year, the highest number on record.
One spark can have devastating consequences. Please do not to use disposable barbecues, fire pits, garden incinerators or fireworks at this time. Even a small flame can spread rapidly and lead to a serious wildfire, putting people, property and the environment at risk.
