More workplaces now have lithium-ion batteries on site, from tools and handheld equipment to e-bikes and other rechargeable devices.
The key is clear charging rules, not letting charging happen wherever a socket is available.
Consider where batteries are charged, whether escape routes stay clear, how damaged batteries are reported, and what staff should do if equipment shows signs of damage, overheating, or unusual behaviour.
As battery-powered equipment becomes more common, charging arrangements should also become part of routine workplace fire-safety conversations.
