Reform UK Poulton-le-fylde Promoted by Mark Butcher on behalf of Reform UK Millbank Tower, 21-24 Millbank, London, SW1P 4QP Together, we can build a brighter future for our communities.

My name is Paul Ellison, and I proudly serve as a district councillor for Wyre Council, representing the vibrant community of Marsh Mill Ward. Throughout my time in this role, I have witnessed remarkable progress in our area. We have successfully restored King George's Playing Fields to prevent flooding, planted countless trees to enhance our environment, installed inclusive pop-up parks for all t

o enjoy, and created two new football pitches to support local sports. I am deeply committed to our community and actively support grassroots football teams, the Thornton Cleveleys Horticultural Society, and the Cleveleys Car Show. My involvement extends to initiatives like Junior Park runs, local galas, and various charitable fundraising events, reflecting my dedication to fostering community spirit. One of my foremost goals is to make sure Marsh Mill Windmill is restored to its original grandeur, ensuring it remains a cherished landmark for generations to come. I firmly believe in the preservation of our historic sites rather than selling them off for short-term gain. Additionally, I will staunchly advocate for the protection of our precious green fields from unnecessary development, safeguarding our natural landscape. As I look to bring my passion and extensive experience as a district councillor to the county level, I am dedicated to ensuring that the residents of Poulton receive the strong leadership and representation you deserve.

🚨 URGENT: ONLY DAYS LEFT TO SAVE BLACKPOOL’S GOLDEN MILE BEACH! ⏰

Deadline: 1 June we must act NOW!
Blackpool Council wants to install 17 massive rock groynes along our famous sandy beach (starting at Anchorsholme and stretching from South Pier to North Pier areas). This ÂŁ57m scheme will permanently turn our golden sands into a rocky hazard zone and destroy the iconic beach that millions of families love.

The RNLI has lodged a detailed formal objection warning these structures will create serious safety risks for holidaymakers, children, swimmers and lifeboat crews.
Don’t let this happen! Use these 5 powerful arguments when you sign the petition and object to the planning application:

1. Public Safety First – RNLI says the rocks will trap people (especially kids and tourists who don’t know the sea), create dangerous currents and make rescues far harder. Lives are literally at risk.

2. Ruin of Our Iconic Golden Mile – These ugly grey rock structures will destroy the natural sandy beach that defines Blackpool and attracts visitors worldwide.

3. Devastating Impact on Tourism & Economy – Families come for safe, beautiful beaches. This could drive visitors away and hurt local businesses that rely on tourism.

4. Child Safety Danger – Rocks look like playgrounds but have already caused tragedies elsewhere – children climbing and getting stuck is a real and proven risk.

5. Better Alternatives Exist – We need coastal protection, but permanent rock groynes introduce new problems. Sustainable sand replenishment and other options should be used instead of these intrusive barriers.

Blackpool Beach at Risk - Please Share 🩵

Say NO to the 17 Rock Groynes!

Blackpool’s famous golden sands are under threat not just from erosion, but from a controversial £57 million council plan to build 17 massive rock groynes right along our central beach (from South Pier to North Pier).
These huge rocky barriers might sound like protection, but they’ll create far more problems than they solve…!!

Dangerous rip currents & safety nightmare RNLI has formally objected, warning they’ll put holidaymakers, children, and lifeboat crews at serious risk. Tourists who don’t know the sea could get into trouble fast.

Child safety disaster Local councillors have already raised alarms about kids climbing on similar rocks elsewhere and getting trapped. This is a family resort do we really want rock hazards on our beach?

Downdrift erosion They trap sand in one spot but starve the beaches further along the coast, speeding up erosion elsewhere on the Fylde.

Ruins our iconic beach Visual eyesore, harder to walk along, collects debris, and disrupts the wide, open sands that millions of visitors love.

Harm to marine life Changes to sand movement and new rocky habitats will damage the beach ecosystem.

Doesn’t fix the root problem Groynes just move sand around. We need sustainable solutions like beach nourishment, not permanent hard structures that last decades but create new risks.

Blackpool’s beach is our heart and soul the reason families come here year after year. We should protect it properly, not turn it into a hazard zone.

We need to act NOW.

Object to the planning application! Tell Blackpool Council this isn’t the right way forward. Share this post, tag your friends who love Blackpool, and let’s make our voices heard before it’s too late.

🚨 BLACKPOOL’S GOLDEN SANDS ARE BEING STOLEN RIGHT IN FRONT OF US 🚨

For generations, our seven unbroken miles of golden beach have been the soul of Blackpool. Donkey rides, fish & chips, kids building sandcastles as far as the eye can see, that vast open stretch where the Irish Sea meets the illuminations. Pure, free, magical.
And now the council wants to concrete that dream into oblivion.

They’re planning to smash 17 massive rock groynes each 100 metres long right across the beach between the piers.

A jagged stone fence every 150 metres.

ÂŁ57 million of your money to turn our famous golden mile into a series of sandy prison yards.

No more endless runs along the tide line.
No more safe paddling for the kids.
Just slippery, child-swallowing rocks everywhere.

The RNLI are formally objecting. Locals are warning about child safety. But apparently “sea defences” matter more than your family actually being able to enjoy the beach.
This isn’t saving Blackpool.
This is mutilating it.

They say the sands are disappearing. So their genius solution? Build ugly great barriers ON the beach itself. It’s like setting fire to the Mona Lisa to “protect” the paint.
Come 2029, instead of seven miles of golden sands we’ll have seventeen rocky tombstones marking the death of what made Blackpool special.

This is coastal vandalism dressed up as progress.

If you love Blackpool beach, share this. Comment. Make some noise. Before they bury our golden sands under a load of council-approved boulders.

What do you think are you happy to lose the beach like this?
