TURN AI AND DIGITAL IDEAS INTO
EVERYDAY VALUE FOR YOUR BUSINESS
DIGITAL INNOVATION AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
STUDENT CONSULTANCY PROJECTS
The Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence module at the University of Portsmouth
gives postgraduate students the opportunity to work with local organisations on real
business and social challenges. The module explores how digital technologies, particularly
artificial intelligence, can support innovation, improve operations, enhance customer or
stakeholder engagement, and create responsible value.
As part of the module, students will work in small consultancy-style groups with participating
organisations. Their role will be to understand the organisation’s current digital maturity,
explore its use of digital tools, assess AI literacy and readiness, and identify
opportunities where AI and other digital technologies could be adopted in a practical and
responsible way.
Students will also consider potential barriers and risks, including skills, cost, data privacy,
security, ethics, and organisational readiness. Based on their analysis, they will develop
realistic and evidence-informed recommendations that are suitable for the
organisation’s context.
For clients, this provides an opportunity to receive fresh insight from postgraduate students
into digital and AI adoption, including practical ideas that may support future development. For
students, it offers authentic learning through engagement with real organisations, helping
them connect academic concepts with practice.
Participating clients need to commit to 2–3 hours to meet with students on either Monday
2nd November or Tuesday 3rd November during the teaching week. This session will allow
students to ask questions, understand the organisation’s current position, and gather the
information needed for their analysis.
We would be delighted to involve local businesses, charities, and community
organisations interested in exploring how digital innovation and AI could support their
future work.
