Today is International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, a chance to reflect on the impact of aggression not only globally, but also in homes and relationships within our communities.

A child does not have to be physically assaulted to be harmed by abuse. Witnessing or living with domestic abuse can have a lasting emotional and psychological impact. Children who see, hear, or experience domestic abuse are recognised as victims in their own right under the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

If you need support or are worried about someone else, help is available in Rhondda Cynon Taf. The RCT Safety Unit is a free, confidential service in Pontypridd offering dedicated support for anyone affected by domestic abuse. Drop in or call:
📍Upper Church Street, Pontypridd, CF37 2UF

Alternatively, you can contact the Live Fear Free Helpline on 0808 80 10 800. More info: https://orlo.uk/uudXu

The Council is providing an update on the pictured footway closure in , near the entrance to Gadlys Pit Car Park, due to an unsafe wall.

The path was originally closed on May 22 between the car park and East Avenue, and upon further inspection of the structure, the adjacent path to Gadlys Terrace will now also need to be closed from Thursday, June 4.

The temporary fencing that was previously installed is being adjusted, while an addition section is being installed on Thursday along the newly-closed section.

While the fencing will need to be extended into the road, please note that access to Gadlys Pit Car Park will remain open as usual with a narrowed carriageway.

Please also note, it’s important that the fencing is not moved by residents, as the closure is essential due to the safety of the wall. Removing the fencing could put you and others in danger.

The alternative routes for pedestrians are via Dare Villas, Dover Terrace and Gadlys Road (for East Avenue), and Dare Villas and Dover Terrace (for Gadlys Terrace).

Thanks to the community for your cooperation.
