BURIN KITE FESTIVAL PLYMOUTH HOE - SAT 11th JULY

The  Festival is a global multi-day event held every July centred in the Palestinian village of Burin in the occupied West Bank.

In Palestine, flying kites is a profound symbol of hope, freedom and peaceful defiance. Because Israeli blockades violently and illegally restrict life on the ground, kites serve as a powerful image of the soul - reaching high above the occupation walls and guns.

Burin village is heavily surrounded by illegal Israeli settlements and is the target of ongoing military crime. Its people are routinely subjected to attacks by settler thugs as well as state level theft. 500 acres stolen by Israel and given to settlers of the illegal town of Har Brakha. 7,000 olive trees damaged. 580 documented violent attacks by hooligan settlers. Over half the people who live there are Nakba survivors and their descendants.
