Midlothian Council Labour Group is proud to promote the idea and ideals of an Older Peoples Champions to highlight and support policies which meet the needs of our fast-expanding older generation.

In Midlothian our older people’s champion is Deputy Provost Margot Russell.
Margot says: “Here in Midlothian your Labour administration has protected the funding for social care which many of our elderly people rely on. We are building more amenity housing and better services to help them cope with the isolation and mental health and well being.”

More new residential developments for the elderly are being built in Dalkeith on the old high school site, in Bonnyrigg at the old St Mary’s school site, and in Gorebridge to replace the properties next to Newbyres Care facility.

Election week arriving on Thursday the 5th of May.
