Different families. Same love. Same commitment. Same life-changing impact.
Pembrokeshire fostering team manager Oliver Mathias said: “LGBTQ+ foster carers make a huge contribution to fostering. They bring compassion, resilience, life experience and a strong understanding of the importance of acceptance and identity.
“For children and young people, feeling accepted for who they are can be life changing. Pride month reminds us that everyone deserves to feel safe, valued and included.”

Teuluoedd gwahanol. Yr un cariad. Yr un ymrwymiad. Yr un effaith sy’n newid bywyd.
Dywedodd Rheolwr Tîm Maethu Sir Benfro, Oliver Mathias: ‘Mae gofalwyr maeth LHDTC+ yn gwneud cyfraniad enfawr at faethu. Maen nhw’n dod â thrugaredd, gwydnwch, profiad bywyd a dealltwriaeth gref o ba mor bwysig yw derbyn a hunaniaeth.
‘Yn achos plant a phobl ifanc, gall teimlo eu bod yn cael eu derbyn am bwy ydyn nhw newid eu bywydau. Mae Mis Balchder yn ein hatgoffa bod pawb yn haeddu teimlo’n ddiogel, fel petaen nhw’n cael eu gwerthfawrogi, ac yn cael eu cynnwys.’

This Pride Month, we celebrate our LGBTQ+ foster carers, families, colleagues and young people. You are valued, respected and needed. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Local children need safe, loving homes where they can feel accepted for who they are. LGBTQ+ foster carers help make that possible.
Your sexuality or gender identity does not define your ability to foster. Your care, commitment and compassion do.

-------------------------------------

Y Mis Balchder hwn, rydym yn dathlu ein gofalwyr, teuluoedd, cydweithwyr a phobl ifanc LHDTC+ yn y maes maethu. Rydym yn eich gwerthfawrogi, eich parchu, ac eich angen chi. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Mae angen cartrefi diogel a llawn cariad ar blant lleol lle gallant deimlo eu bod yn cael eu derbyn am bwy ydyn nhw. Mae gofalwyr maeth LHDTC+ yn helpu i wneud hynny’n bosibl.
Nid eich rhywioldeb na’ch hunaniaeth o ran rhywedd sy’n diffinio’ch gallu i faethu ai peidio. Yr hyn sy’n bwysig yw eich gofal, eich ymrwymiad a’ch tosturi.

Mae rôl gofalwr maeth yn heriol, ac mae meithrin ymddiriedaeth gydag unigolyn ifanc yn cymryd amser.
Gydag amynedd, cysondeb a'r gefnogaeth gywir, gall maethu fod yn un o'r pethau mwyaf ystyrlon y byddwch chi byth yn ei wneud.
Does dim disgwyl i chi ei wneud ar eich pen eich hun. Cewch hyfforddiant, arweiniad a chefnogaeth barhaus bob cam o'r ffordd.
Gallai cartref sefydlog newid dyfodol plentyn lleol.

Wrth i Bythefnos Gofal Maeth 2026 ddod i ben, hoffem ddweud diolch. 💜🧡

Nid yw’r angen am ofalwyr maeth yn dod i ben yma – na’r gefnogaeth chwaith.

Fel rhan o Bythefnos Gofal Maeth a thema eleni, Dyma yw Maethu, rydym yn rhannu profiadau go iawn ein gofalwyr maeth awdurdod lleol yn Sir Benfro…

Dywedodd un gofalwr maeth fod y newid mwyaf wedi dod o fod yn gyson ac aros yn ddigynnwrf – hyd yn oed pan oedd ymddygiadau’n heriol.

Drwy ddangos i blentyn y bydden nhw yno beth bynnag a ddaw, drwy osod ffiniau clir, ac aros nes bod emosiynau wedi tawelu cyn trafod pethau, datblygodd yr ymddiriedaeth yn araf.

Daeth y trobwynt pan oedd y plentyn yn teimlo’n ddigon diogel i drafod ei orffennol.

As part of Foster Care Fortnight and this year’s theme, This is Fostering, we’re sharing the real experiences of our local authority foster carers in Pembrokeshire…

One foster carer told us that the biggest change came from simply being consistent and staying calm – even when behaviours were challenging.

By showing a child that they would be there no matter what, setting clear boundaries, and waiting until emotions had settled before talking things through, trust slowly grew.

The turning point came when the child felt safe enough to open up about their past.

Sometimes, the most powerful thing a foster carer can do is stay.

This Foster Care Fortnight, we’re shining a light on fostering in Pembrokeshire – quite literally. 💜🧡

This week, County Hall is being lit up in Foster Wales colours to help raise awareness of the life changing impact foster carers have on children and young people.

Behind every light is a story of care, resilience and support.
Could you be part of it?

Yn ystod y Pythefnos Gofal Maeth hwn, rydym yn taflu goleuni ar faethu yn Sir Benfro – yn llythrennol. 💜🧡

Yr wythnos hon, mae Neuadd y Sir yn cael ei goleuo yn lliwiau Maethu Cymru i helpu i godi ymwybyddiaeth o’r effaith y mae gofalwyr maeth yn ei chael ar fywydau plant a phobl ifanc.

Y tu ôl i bob golau mae stori o ofal, gwydnwch a chefnogaeth.
A allech chi fod yn rhan o hyn?

This Foster Care Fortnight, we’re also recognising the vital role of the fostering team behind the scenes.

As fostering team manager, Oliver Mathias sees the lasting impact foster carers make: helping children feel safe, build confidence, experience stability, and prepare for what comes next.

He said: “As a fostering team manager, I see the highs and lows of fostering every day. I know that one of the hardest moments for foster carers is the quiet that follows when a child they have loved, nurtured, shaped and helped to grow moves on. The house can feel different, the routines change, and the absence is deeply felt.

“But I also see the lasting difference our foster carers make. They help children feel safe, build confidence, experience stability and prepare for their next chapter. However hard goodbye may be, there is something incredibly powerful in knowing you have helped a child move on to a new home full of love, hope and opportunity.”

Fel rheolwr tîm maethu, mae Oliver Mathias yn gweld yr effaith barhaol y mae gofalwyr maeth yn ei chael: helpu plant i deimlo’n ddiogel, meithrin hyder, profi sefydlogrwydd, a pharatoi ar gyfer yr hyn sy’n dod nesaf.

Dywedodd: “Fel rheolwr tîm maethu, rwy’n gweld uchafbwyntiau ac isafbwyntiau maethu bob dydd. Rwy’n gwybod mai un o’r adegau anoddaf i ofalwyr maeth yw’r tawelwch sy’n dilyn pan fydd plentyn maen nhw wedi’i garu, ei feithrin, ei lunio a’i helpu i dyfu yn symud ymlaen. Gall y tŷ deimlo’n wahanol, gall yr arferion newid, a gall yr absenoldeb deimlo’n ddwys.

“Ond rwyf hefyd yn gweld y gwahaniaeth parhaol y mae ein gofalwyr maeth yn ei wneud. Maen nhw’n helpu plant i deimlo’n ddiogel, meithrin hyder, profi sefydlogrwydd a pharatoi ar gyfer eu pennod nesaf. Pa mor anodd bynnag yw ffarwelio, mae rhywbeth hynod bwerus mewn gwybod eich bod wedi helpu plentyn i symud ymlaen i gartref newydd sy’n llawn cariad, gobaith a chyfle.”
