14:00 Ukrainian botanical folklore - workshop by Janina Pedan and Mariya Shub.
A workshop exploring the botanical motifs of Ukrainian culture and their medicinal, magical and symbolical meanings. will talk about 7 important plants in Ukrainian symbology and offer to interact with these plants directly through touch, taste and smell. will introduce the symbol of “Tree-of-life”. We will deconstruct the symbol and create our own version with simple craft materials. Free registration - link in bio

17:00 Anthology of Q***r Ukrainian Voices During Wartime - reading by Vlad(a) Vazheyevskyy. Vlad(a) Vazheyevskyy - a Ukrainian performance artist and researcher will do a performative reading of works from the soon to be published - Anthology of Q***r Ukrainian Voices During Wartime. Vlad(a) and his brother T Vazheyevskyy, a co-editor of the anthology, have been collecting text-based works from the Ukrainian Q***r community since March of 2022.

18:30 The Winter Garden's Talee - documentary film by Simon Mozgovyi. “For the last 45 years, Mrs. Valentina Voronina has been the steward of the floriculture pavilion in the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy of the Ukrainian SSR. With a motley crew of four-legged companions, Voronina has devoted her life to tending plants and mending structures, making the most of seemingly insufficient resources to keep the declining greenhouse alive and standing”.

▫️▫️▫️This THURSDAY (13/10) we are launching the new book by at Biblioteka. With book signing by Sofia Yala Rodrigues ▫️▫️▫️

"Working Men Have No Country" is an essay of images and texts bringing together the work and researches of four artists: (Bulgaria - United Kingdom), (France), (Morocco) et Sofia Yala Rodrigues (Portugal - Angola - UK). This book is a broad fresco made up of singular adventures and lives, from the October Revolution to the fall of the USSR and decolonisation. By re-drawing geographical boundaries outside the official narratives of the four areas of migration, we have tried to examine education, propaganda and racism in the political contexts of successive migrations, leading to the postsocialist and postcolonialist movements.

Come join us at Biblioteka to celebrate the launch of “Martyrology”, a research project by artist Maria Lissoni, tracing parallels between Catholic paintings of martyrdom and scenes from Western horror movies, questioning iconography and body politics.

This first iteration of a three-chapter programme invites film programmer Emma Bouraba to curate a selection of short films in response to the research themes, featuring emerging filmmakers Asako Ujita, River Cao and Daniel Baldé. The screening is followed by a panel talk with the artists and a live performance by sound artist Nocturnal Phase.

Come join us at for the launch of a new title from .supply & next Saturday (2nd of July).

Entropia (vol. I & II) – written by William Kherbek and edited in collaboration with Jack Clarke – is a publication which seeks to recount and re-examine a decade of artistic curation, production, and critique between London, Berlin, and other urban art centres from 2010 to 2020.

Comprised of two volumes, this publication contains a compendium of over one hundred reviews and interviews with luminaries of contemporary art (Vol I), as well as a speculative attempt to create a newly generated algorithmic art(ificial) critic (Vol II). Together they serve to document, excoriate, and theorise an art world which is simultaneously hegemonic and precarious, complicit and constructive, driven by values, yet fed by extraction, all filtered through Kherbek’s precise, aphoristic, acerbic, lens.
