📣Protest: Rage Against the Budget
Wednesday 26 November 5.30pm
Carfax Tower, Oxford
No more deaths from benefit cuts - tax the rich - welfare not warfare

Rachel Reeves' U-turn on her tax U-turn reveals a Labour government in freefall. The budget this Wednesday is going to see stealth taxes on working class people. Starmer’s government increasingly represents a politics of despair. We need to oppose this and build a movement that represents hope.

Join us in protest on budget day. United we can build an alternative to austerity, racism and imperialism. Called by Disabled People Against Cuts and supported by CWU South Central Postal Branch NUJ and Oxford We Demand Change.

We met Anneliese Dodds earlier, asking why she voted for a major cut in the health element of Universal Credit, what is being done to address S.E.N.D. funding, what is being done to address Access To Work, what she thinks of Wes Streeting 's comments on the "overdiagnosis" of mental health conditions and if she considers herself a disability ally. Come talk to us about her responses at our protest on 26th November

🚨 Banbury Deserves Better 🚨

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (Official) propose to cut the number of firefighters at Banbury station.

That would mean:-

# Slower response times
# Reduced safety for firefighters
# Less support for residents when they need it most.

🔥 This isn’t just a budget issue, it’s a safety crisis.

Our firefighters risk their lives to protect us.

We must protect them.

📢 Say NO to the cuts.
🔈 Demand full staffing.
🤝 Support Banbury’s fire crew.

💖Celebrate Oxford as a diverse City of Sanctuary
💖Migrants & Refugees Welcome Here
🚫No to Islamophobia 🚫No Antisemitism 🚫No to Racism & Division

Called by Oxford Stand Up to Racism, Oxford & District Trades Council, Oxfordshire Unison Health, CWU South Central Postal, NEU Oxfordshire, Indian Workers Association GB Oxford branch, Oxford Mutual Aid, with more support expected.

We are facing a rise in racism and racist attacks. This is fuelled by mainstream politicians and media competing over who can scapegoat Muslims, migrants and refugees the most.

This is opening the door to fascists who threaten all freedom and democracy.

September 13th saw the biggest fascist organised and led rally in British history. Over 100,000 people attended fascist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon's (AKA Tommy Robinson) rally to hear leading figures from across the far and fascist right, including the Elon Musk who is supporting Yaxley-Lennon.

As a result far-right led racist protests targeting refugees have sprung up across the UK, including Oxford, which threaten to re-ignite the racist riots that followed the murders in Southport.

We urgently need a movement that can challenge the growth of racism and the far and fascist right.

Join us to say these people do not speak for us and we will unite to celebrate our diverse communities and reject all attempts at racist divide and rule.

✋Stop Disability Benefit Cuts - Welfare Not Warfare
🗓️ Saturday 1 November 🕔5:30pm
📍Benefit Assessment Centre,
59 St Aldates, Oxford OX1 1ST
Organised by Oxford DPAC

In July the Government attempted but failed to make billions of pounds worth of cuts to Personal Independence Payments (PIP) but they did slash the health element of Universal Credit (UC) by half and frozen it for at least 4 years.

One of the main reasons the Government failed to push through more drastic cuts was the protests organised by Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC) and another groups.

Another way the Government force cuts to disabled people's social security is through assessments carried out by private health companies.

The notorious government contractor Atos withdrew from providing Work Capability Assessments in 2014.

This was as a result of the enormous anger and protests by organisations such as DPAC at the scandal of tests that wrongly denied benefits to thousands of disabled people and ignored advice from doctors.

However private companies such as Serco, Maximus, Capita and Ingeus UK are making huge profits from assessing whether disabled people qualify for PIP and the health element and also whether people are capable for work.

Surely the advice from people's GPs and other health professionals should suffice rather than putting disabled people through these inhumane tests?

We say stop the attacks on disabled people.

Scrap the assessments.

Welfare not Warfare.

Emergency Protest: DEFEND REFUGEES - STOP THE FAR RIGHT
🗓️Saturday 2nd August 🕔 11:15 am (NOTE NEW TIME)
📍Meet corner of Grenoble Rd and Guelder Rd, Greater Leys.

Oxford Stand Up To Racism has recieved a warning to say an anti migrant protest has been called at the Holiday Inn Express in Greater Leys. Far right and fascist activists and groups have called multiple demonstrations targeting migrant accommodation for this and the coming weekends. In May, we saw a local group support the fascist organised Great British National Strike, who managed to mobilise a sizeable racist anti-migrant protest. Their national leader is calling for protests at all hotels housing refugees this weekend and linking to a map of hotels housing refugees across the UK, including Oxford and Witney. One of the fascist organisers of the May protest in Oxford has issued the call.

Oxford Stand Up To Racism believes we have to take this warning seriously to prevent being caught off guard, and a racist mob being able to terrorise refugees and any Black person on the street as happened in Epping.
