When the Denny Garden Estate was built in 2016, a small area was set aside for allotments. Unfortunately, these were never developed and for ten years the space was overgrown and empty.

Until now! In March, a lease was signed and the local community has begun coming together to transform the area into a thriving community space, with a particular focus on shared growing plots. We have been working hard on our site and we would like to celebrate the success of the project so far by

Now is your chance to give feedback on plans for The Covered Market Oxford ๐Ÿ“ฃ

We're inviting residents, visitors and businesses to view and comment on proposals for an ยฃ8 million programme of essential improvements to the Covered Market.

Boards displaying the proposals are now on display at Oxford Town Hall until Tuesday (16 June). You can view the proposals and leave feedback in person or online. To find the exhibition, follow the corridor to the right of Oxford Town Hall reception, next to the Museum of Oxford.

The Covered Market has been at the heart of Oxford for more than 250 years. Plans focus on upgrading ageing infrastructure while protecting its character. The proposals aim to support the marketโ€™s long-term future while respecting its heritage, with improvements.

The programme will continue through design and engagement during 2026, with construction anticipated from mid-2027. The market will remain open and trading throughout the works.

if you can't make it in person, you can view and comment on plans online via the Covered Market website: https://oxford-coveredmarket.co.uk/home/marketimprovements/

Councils across Oxfordshire and West Berkshire are working together to prepare for changes to how local government is organised in the future.

The government is expected to announce its decision in July, following a consultation earlier this year on proposals for one, two or three new councils to replace the current councils in 2028.

While we donโ€™t yet know the outcome, councils are planning ahead so that:

โœ… Services continue without disruption.
โœ… Communities are supported through any changes.
โœ… Things become simpler for residents in the long term.

Whatever happens, the aim is to make services easier to access and reduce duplication so more money can be reinvested where it matters most. We will keep everyone updated as the process moves forward.
