A wonderful course and lots of lovely people to share ideas and experience with. Now to bat on with some applications!

We were honoured to receive an invitation to the congletontc Congleton Town Council Civic Parade and Service for Town Mayor, Cllr Suzy Firkin.

The parade through the town centre concluded at the Town Hall where we enjoyed a celebration of public service.

It was wonderful to be amongst some amazing people who have dedicated their lives to their communities and the organisations within them.

Thank you Cllr Firkin and Congleton Town Council for a lovely event and, as always, to you all and the fantastic people of Congleton for your support it means a lot to us.

Ray’s retirement also saw the presentation of a cheque by the phenomenal Elsie-Mae Daniells.

Those of you who follow our pages know this incredible 9 year old embarked on a 14.7 mile Walk in Anglesey including going up Holyhead Mountain.

This isn’t even Elsie-Mae’s first walk for the Wood and this time she raised a whopping £1,832.70 from her Walk4Wildlife2026.

Amazing achievement Elsie-Mae we are so proud of you and your commitment to the Wood and Wildlife.

Thank you so much to everyone who came last night to Ray’s retirement do. It was a fantastic night with lots of current volunteers and some lovely surprise visits from former volunteers. Always part of the Lower Moss Wood family.

We managed the speeches with just a few pauses to gather ourselves and present Ray with a card and a gift to mark his retirement.

A good time had by all and, delighted to say it’s not really goodbye. Whilst retiring to Cumbria, Ray will become Patron of the Charity and will be visiting us from time to time.

Till we see you again back at the Wood Ray, we will miss you more than you will ever know. But we intend to bat on and do you proud.
