Get free entry to the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum next weekend, 12 and 13 September, as part of Heritage Open Days – 50 years on from the Museum’s official opening.

Explore the birthplace of one of England’s greatest writers, an authentic Victorian miner’s home. Step back in time to experience the traditional Victorian wash house, see the parlour; a room only for special guests, and have a wander around the parental and other bedrooms. The museum’s permanent exhibition features items from Lawrence’s family and even paintings created by the author himself.

The expert team will also be in Victorian dress and available to answer any questions you might have.

Do you know your numbers?

Next week is the start of national blood pressure awareness campaign “Know Your Numbers Week”, and Bramcote Leisure Centre is hosting a free drop in health check event for you to get a quick, medical certified screening via their SiSU kiosk to mark it.

Make your way to Bramcote Leisure Centre on Monday 7 September between 3:00pm – 5:00pm to get your health check. There’s no need to book, and you’ll receive your results instantly.

Members of the team from the Primary Care Network, Your Health Notts, and LLesiure will also be on hand throughout the session to provide support and answer any questions you may have.

🚩 The Iron Giant: A Valley's Story event takes place tomorrow (Sunday 6 September)! 🚩

Head over to Bennerley Viaduct: this weekend between 1:00pm and 4:00pm to enjoy:

💬 The history of the viaduct told by Beeston Players on the skywalk itself.
🎩 Victorian street theatre by the Lost Luggage Porters and Period Prestidigitation.
🎺 Live music by the Hot Dogs Brass Band.
⛏ An interactive coal mining talk from David Coleman.
🍰 Coffee, cake, and a special event menu at the newly opened visitors centre and café!

And the best part? The event is FREE to attend, with free parking available on site for event attendees.
