Jack and Andy hesitated to apply to become foster carers at first because they’re a same s*x couple. Their local council was delighted to meet them.
Jack became a foster carer aged just 21, He thinks being so young enables him to connect better with the children in their care. "I'm able to relate to them better and understand them."
Andy’s advice to people thinking about fostering is: “Send that initial inquiry, because you don't have to commit yourself. You don't have to own your own home. You can be single. You can be gay, you can be all those things. There's something for everyone out there. If you're thinking about fostering, do it.”
Your everyday life and ordinary routine is exactly what a foster child needs.
