Now Foster Care Fortnight is drawing to a close for 2026, the need for foster carers continues. There are more than 1000 children in care in Norfolk, and we urgently need more foster carers to join us.

Tim and his wife foster babies. They started fostering when Tim was 33 and their son was two, 34 years ago! Tim was a market trader and his wife worked as a civil servant when they started. They both worked 3 different days a week which worked brilliantly for fostering babies. They have two different lives, a life when they do have a foster baby and a life when they don’t and they enjoy both.

Foster carers are ordinary people living ordinary lives who do something extraordinary. Could you join us and foster with your local council? Get in touch on 01603 306649 and we'll pop round for a chat about fostering.

The thing is, foster carers are ordinary people, living ordinary lives, in ordinary homes, and children in care live there too.

Catherine’s friends might think she’s a super mum, but she disagrees. She’s just living a normal, everyday family life with her husband and their two kids, and now their foster son as well.

They were already doing family things including playing in the garden, making snacks, creating Lego masterpieces, going on day trips, doing homework and playing rugby when a chat with another foster parent made them realise they had plenty of room in their home, their hearts and their lives to look after another child too.

If you'd like to chat to a foster carer about what fostering for the council is really like, get in touch. Call 01603 306649 and speak to one of the team - we love to talk fostering.

It’s Foster Care Fortnight! Did you know? Fostering is a paid role. Many people think about fostering and if its something they could do for years before they decide its the right time. Is fostering in your future?

Caroline is a single mum and grandma. Fostering was on her radar for years before she finally got involved after she was made redundant. She’s made space in her home for several foster children and loves welcoming them into her life.

Children who come to her for sleepover or respite care take part in everyday family activities like walking the dog, baking and cooking. Her everyday routine provides a solid, grounding structure for children who need a loving, stable home.

Almost anyone can foster if they're 21 or over. This Foster Care Fortnight we're shining light on some amazing local authority foster carers here in the east of England.

Jack was 21 and fresh out of a career in hospitality when he and his partner started fostering. He’s a natural. Maybe it’s something to do with his younger age. They started with weekend fostering to make sure fostering was definitely what they wanted to do, and loved it.

Jack and Andy usually have around three foster children sharing their home and enjoying their everyday life and routine. It’s a completely different life to the one they had planned, and they love it.

Foster carers can be single, part of a couple, LGBTQ+, over 21 or grandparent age. What matters is your ability to give a child in care a stable, loving everyday home. Could you foster? Give us a call on 01603 306649 or have a look at www.fostereast.gov.uk for more information.

Has your family considered fostering? This Foster Care Fortnight, we're telling you about some of the amazing people who foster for their local authority hee in the east of England.

Neil, Susan and their blended teenage family and their dogs started fostering when Neil realised his corporate career wasn’t giving him the job satisfaction he craved. They wondered what he could do instead. They tried fostering toddlers but soon discovered that fostering teenagers and teaching ‘adulting’ life skills is where they excel.

Your family life doesn’t have to be 2.4 children perfect: foster carers and their families come in all shapes and sizes.

Our fabulous team here at Norfolk Fostering would love to talk to you about fostering. Give them a call on 01603 306649 any time between 8am and 8pm.

Could you foster? Gary and his wife were inspired to get into fostering by some of the stories they heard about children in care when they were considering adoption.

Gary changed jobs from a management position to a warehouse worker to give him more time after work to be a great foster dad. He always makes sure he’s home in time for tea, to play with the kids and read bed-time stories, so their everyday routine always ends the same way.

It’s Foster Care Fortnight! We're hugely grateful to all our foster carers every day of the year, and Foster Care Fortnight gives us the chance to celebrate each and every one of them.

Rachel will be out and about all over Norfolk for the next two weeks having conversations about fostering in shops, supermarkets and garden centres. If you see her, please pop over and say Hi.

Could you foster? Bev, Steve and their family of five children foster kids of all ages. When they started fostering Steve worked in a school and Bev worked for the police. Their children helped new foster siblings to feel welcome in their home.

As a family of seven, plus foster children, family life is busy, full-on and full of love and laughter. They’re an everyday family living an everyday life, welcoming children in care into their home.

For an informal chat about fostering and how it might work for you, call us on 01603 306649.
