"I've seen their hard work, and always been met with friendly faces, they have built this service, upon delivering good and often outstanding care and that should be a foundation that we build upon, not tear down."
Amber speaks at the first Full County Council meeting since her election.
Amber supported a motion that was tabled, proposing the delay of the sale of Norse Care, and subsequently 20 care homes across Norfolk- Including Mayflower Court, the dementia care home in Bowthorpe.
Norse care is County Council owned, and the previous Conservative administration had planned the sale to a US owned private care company, on the basis that the Council cannot afford to upgrade and renovate the care homes themselves.
The staff and residents of Norse were not properly consulted about the planned sale, nor have they been kept informed about what the future holds for their homes and careers.
Unfortunately, the motion was voted down and sale will continue as planned, but Amber is committed to ensuring that residents and staff are kept as up to date as possible.
