Some time spent walking Norwich Road and reporting a range of defects recently.

Some minor, others a bit more significant, but all now logged and passed on for attention.

A busy and warm day in Mundesley, reporting highways defects and issues across the village while also taking the opportunity to enjoy some of what the village has to offer.

A coffee stop at Rustons, a great pie from Mundesley butchers, and a walk around the village in the sunshine was throughly enjoyable.

It is so important to support local businesses and the amazing efforts they go to for their customers and communities.

As a County Councillor, highways conversations come up a lot — whether that’s speaking with residents, reporting issues, or discussing local concerns with engineers and officers.

Next up is a visit to the highways depot in Aylsham, which I’m looking forward to. It will be a good opportunity to better understand the work that goes on behind the scenes.

This evening I attended the Annual Parish meeting of Mundesley Parish Council.

Congratulations to Bev Reynolds on being elected Chair and congratulations to Roy Dickinson on being elected Vice Chair.

Afterwards, Mundesley provided a stunning view!

Following concerns raised by residents on Hornbeam Road that some of the trees have not survived, I have been looking into how we can tackle this.

I have since spoken with Cllr Kate Leith, who has kindly offered a number of spare trees from a previous planting scheme so that the failed trees can be replaced.

These trees play an important role in helping to soften and screen the industrial units from the surrounding area, so it is good to see replacements being identified rather than leaving gaps.

Thank you to the residents who raised the issue and to Cllr Kate Leith for helping to support a practical solution.

Last night I attended my first parish council meetings at Swafield and Trunch in my role as County Councillor.

It was great to meet councillors, listen to local discussions, and start building good working relationships.

Parish councils are incredibly important, with a strong understanding of the communities they serve and the local issues that matter most to residents.

The condition of this telecommunications building in Mundesley has clearly deteriorated over a long period of time and does not reflect particularly well on the area.

I have since contacted the company responsible for the site, PFS, who have advised that the building will be assessed shortly, with the intention that improvement and tidy-up works can follow.

The appearance of buildings and infrastructure matters, particularly in a beautiful village like Mundesley, where so many residents and visitors pass through each day.

Came across this fantastic postbox topper in Trunch recently and thought it was too good not to share.

Little things like this can really brighten people’s day and are a lovely reminder of the community spirit and creativity that exists in our area.

A big thank you to everyone who voted for me in yesterday’s Norfolk County Council elections.

Thank you as well to everyone who supported the campaign, spoke with me, raised local concerns and issues, or helped behind the scenes over the last few weeks.

I am looking forward to getting started and representing residents across North Walsham West, Mundesley, Knapton, Swafield and Trunch at County Hall.
