Old Loscoe , The Lost Village

Old Loscoe , The Lost Village So , Old Loscoe Village, Normanton was built around 1865. Demolished in 1969, the only last standing buildings, the school and house until 1886

The coal mine Dom Pedro dominated that area, and the purpose as to why the village was built for the workers.

Hi I was wondering if there’s anyone out there who has any old memorabilia about a group of people who performed around the pubs and clubs of Normanton for charity. Got to be eighty something years ago now (so not holding out much hope)they performed under the umbrella of “The Busy bees”. My Dad Bob Sinclair was part of the group and sang under the heading “Bob Sinclair singing miner.” Any memories (even passed down ones) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Who lived in the school house? Did a Betty Jackson teach at the school? Reason I ask is that 70 years ago I visited the schoolhouse next door to the school to see my auntie Irene and uncle tom. He was coal delivery man. He was noted for his false glass eye. Any information would help with my family history. From Tony-Jane Mullineaux
