Yesterday we unveiled the new mural at Tontine Car Park, with young people helping to design and create the artwork alongside professional artists. Their creativity and hard work have transformed the space into something the whole community can be proud of. 🎨

A huge thank you to everyone involved in bringing this vision to life. πŸ’œ

🎨 Yesterday we officially cut the ribbon on this incredible community-led graffiti mural at Tontine Car Park in St Helens town centre.

The project has been commissioned by St Helens Borough Council, delivered by professional mural artist Powered by Hiphop alongside Kingsyze Graffiti, working in partnership with local youth organisations VIBE, REACH and the YMCA, and delivered with support from the Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner.

Councillor Sharon Roughley, Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, said:

"This is a fantastic example of how creativity can be used to address local issues while providing positive opportunities for young people. Rather than simply covering graffiti, we're working with local organisations and talented artists to create something that the community can be proud of.

"The mural is brightening a key gateway into the town centre, celebrating local identity and giving young people the chance to learn new skills, express themselves creatively and leave a positive legacy for others to enjoy."

A fantastic example of creativity, partnership and local pride in action. πŸ’™

COUNCILLOR EMMA BECK’S APPEAL UPHELD

The conviction against Councillor Emma Beck, Reform UK member for Thatto Heath, has been quashed on appeal at Liverpool Crown Court on 21 August 2026.

The councillor had originally been accused of common assault and battery and appealed the guilty finding.

The panel - consisting of a judge and two magistrates - heard the appeal and decided unanimously that Councillor Beck had committed no wrongdoing.

She continues to serve her Ward in Thatto Heath and the residents of St Helens.
