📢 Mutual Exchange Update

We would like to let residents know that the Home Exchange mutual exchange system is being wound down.

If you are interested in moving home through a mutual exchange, you can now register with HomeSwapper to search for potential exchange opportunities with other social housing tenants across the UK.

What is a mutual exchange?

A mutual exchange is when two social housing tenants agree to swap homes. It can be a useful option if your current home no longer meets your needs and you would like to move to a different area or property type.

What does this mean for you?

✅ Search for potential swap opportunities across the UK
✅ Find matches that meet your housing needs
✅ Explore an alternative route to moving home

To register and start searching, visit:

Please note that all mutual exchanges remain subject to landlord approval and the relevant tenancy checks.

We wanted to share a quick update on some recent changes within the Grainger Trust team.

We are currently going through a period of transition, with a slightly smaller team in place for a short time.

This includes changes to the Housing Service Manager roles at Berewood and Cobalt (Bristol), as well as our Senior Housing Services Manager.

We’re pleased to have welcomed Nichola as our new Housing Services Assistant, and over the coming weeks we’ll be introducing several new team members across Berewood, Aldershot and Bristol.

While we are working hard to maintain our usual service, there may occasionally be some delays in response times during this transition.

The best ways to contact us remain:
📧 Email: [email protected]
🔧 Repairs (24/7): 0345 300 5824
☎️ Customer Services (for general queries): 0330 053 9998

We really appreciate your patience and understanding while we strengthen the team and we will update you all with further details in due course.

Thank you,
Grainger Trust Team

♻️ Keeping Communal Bin Stores Clean & Safe

Many residents share communal bin stores and recycling areas, so a little consideration helps keep neighbourhoods clean, safe and pleasant for everyone.

Please help by:
• Using the correct bins for household waste and recycling
• Breaking down cardboard boxes before disposal
• Not leaving bags or bulky items on the floor
• Reporting overflowing bins or fly tipping promptly
• Arranging bulky waste collections through your local authority for items such as mattresses, sofas, white goods or furniture

Excess waste and fly tipping can create fire risks, unpleasant smells and attract pests or vermin to communal areas.

Thank you to residents who continue to help keep shared spaces clean and respectful for neighbours and visiting services.

🚨 Update: Incident at Colburn House, Wellesley🚨

Dear Residents,

We wanted to update you following an incident earlier today at Colburn House, where a vehicle collided with the building.

Emergency services responded incredibly quickly, and we’re pleased to confirm that no one was injured. One ground floor flat has been affected, and we are supporting the resident directly.

Our team remains on site working to secure the building and carry out a full assessment of the damage.

We understand this may have been concerning for those living nearby and appreciate your patience and understanding while this is being managed.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the emergency services on site — Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Ambulance Service, Roads Policing, and the gas utilities teams. Their swift response and support has been fantastic and greatly appreciated.

If you have any immediate concerns, please get in touch with your Housing Service Manager.

We will continue to keep you updated as needed.

Thank you,
Grainger Trust

🏠 Shared Ownership at Grainger Trust – a handy reminder 🏠

If you’re an existing Shared Owner, we want to help make things as clear and straightforward as possible 💚

🔧 Looking after your home
Once any house‑builder defects period has ended, you’re responsible for the day‑to‑day care of your home. This usually includes things like:
✅ Arranging gas safety checks (where applicable)
✅ Keeping electrical safety up to date
✅ Repairs and maintenance inside your home
This helps keep your home safe, comfortable, and well looked after.

📈 Thinking about next steps?
If you’re considering:

Staircasing (buying a bigger share of your home), or
Selling your Shared Ownership home,
we can explain the process and talk you through the options available.

👉 You can find clear, helpful information on our website here:
