🎒📚 Back-to-school photos? A quick online safety reminder
We love seeing those proud first-day-back photos — but before you post, take a few seconds to check what information might be visible in the picture.
A seemingly innocent photo can sometimes share more than intended, such as:
📍 Location – school entrances, street signs or location tags
🏫 School details – school names, logos, badges or uniform
🕐 Daily routines – photos posted at the same time and place each day can reveal patterns
📝 Personal information – names, labels, certificates or paperwork visible in the background
Once something is shared online, it can be copied or reshared, so it’s worth considering who can see your post and what information you’re making public.
A few simple ways to share more safely:
✔️ Check your privacy settings
✔️ Avoid adding a precise location
✔️ Take a quick look at the background before posting
✔️ Consider cropping out school names, badges or identifying details
✔️ Share with family and friends privately rather than publicly where appropriate
✔️ Ask your child if they’re happy for their photo to be shared
A lovely photo doesn’t need to give away the whole story.
Enjoy those back-to-school moments — and share safely. 💚
