📚 BACKING STAFFORDSHIRE’S LIBRARIES

Libraries are about far more than books. They are important community spaces, bringing people together and helping residents access services, advice and support.

That’s why the Reform UK administration at Staffordshire County Council is investing £5 million across Staffordshire’s 43 libraries, helping transform them into modern community hubs.

That includes £1 million for almost all of Staffordshire’s 27 community-managed libraries, supporting improvements to public spaces and facilities.

We want our libraries to remain at the heart of the communities they serve - modern, welcoming and useful for local people.

I don’t often do posts like this, but with Councillor Adam Griffiths now officially standing as the Reform UK candidate for Town Ward in the upcoming borough council by-election, I wanted to say something publicly.

Adam and I were both elected to Staffordshire County Council in May 2025, and since then he has helped me more than he probably realises.

When I was finding my feet as a new county councillor, Adam was one of the people I could go to for advice, an honest opinion, or just to talk something through. A lot has happened for me since May 2025, and I genuinely don’t think I would be where I am today without a lot of the support and advice he has given me along the way.

Politics can be a strange world, and I’ve always tried to keep work and friendships fairly separate. But somewhere along the way, Adam stopped simply being a colleague and became someone I genuinely consider a good friend.

That matters to me because I’ve seen the person behind the politics.

I’ve seen how much he cares about the job, how seriously he takes scrutiny and representing residents, and how much effort he puts into actually understanding an issue rather than simply saying what he thinks people want to hear.

He has proven he is willing to put party politics aside, and work with councillors from other parties for the benefit of residents.

He stood for the Westbury Park & Northwood Ward in the May 2026 Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council elections earlier this year and unfortunately wasn’t elected, but instead of disappearing or giving up, he has kept working as a County Councillor and is now putting himself forward again, but for Town Ward.

That says a lot about him.

Town Ward residents will obviously make their own decision, as they should, but I’m more than happy to say that Adam has my full support.

He has been there for me from the beginning of my time in politics, and I’m proud to now be able to support him in return.

An honour to take the Newcastle-under-Lyme story to the Reform UK Podcast at Party Conference today.

And we’ve got plenty to shout about.

In just months, our Reform UK led Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council has shown what happens when you deliver.

💷 We’ve saved local taxpayers around £11 MILLION by axing costly Net Zero vanity schemes.

🚛 That means ditching plans for eye wateringly expensive electric bin lorries and the charging infrastructure needed to keep them running.

🔥 It means refusing to rip out a perfectly serviceable boiler at Jubilee2 just to replace it with an expensive heat pump because the Net Zero madness the Tories pursued.

🏘️ And we’re taking back control of our neighbourhoods by bringing forward a borough wide Article 4 Direction, meaning new small HMOs will have to come through the planning system rather than simply appearing without proper local scrutiny.

This is what Reform in power looks like.

I’m incredibly proud of what we’re doing in Newcastle-under-Lyme, and even prouder to shout about it on the national stage. 🇬🇧💪

Official Announcement: Standing for Town Ward 🇬🇧🗳️

​It is my absolute privilege to confirm that I have officially signed the paperwork and will be standing as the Reform UK candidate for Town Ward in the upcoming by-election!

​Having lived my entire life in Newcastle South, this area means everything to me. Town Ward holds a particularly special place in my story—it’s where I bought my very first house, and taking that first step onto the property ladder was the foundation for everything that followed.

​My Priorities for Town Ward:

• ​Supporting First-Time Buyers & Young Families: Greatly reduce the amount of HMO's and back the next generation. Make Town an attractive, affordable, and welcoming place for young families to settle down and build a future.

• ​Tackling Residential Parking: Parking in our residential streets has become a massive daily headache. We need sensible, practical solutions that put residents first.

• ​Cleaning Up Anti-Social Behaviour & Crime: Anti-social behaviour and open drug use in our town centre and surrounding subways are completely unacceptable. Residents who have lived here for decades should never feel afraid to walk through their own town after dark.

​A Resident First, A Politician Never 🛒🏛️

​I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I am not a career politician. I am a customer assistant at Lidl who just happens to be a passionate local councillor. I live in the real world, share your everyday frustrations, and work hard to get things done without corporate fluff or political games.

​I am asking for your vote in Town Ward so I can continue to give our community a strong, unapologetic voice where it matters most.

A planning application for the Islamic Centre includes a proposed 13.5 metre brick minaret.

The Conservatives Local Plan says new development must respect the height, scale, character and street scene of the area.

We have serious concerns that a structure of this size and prominence would be out of keeping with the established built character of the Westlands.

We don’t believe the application in its current form should be approved.

The Westlands has three Conservative borough councillors - Simon Tagg, Mark Holland and Gill Heesom. Will they oppose the 13.5 metre minaret, or will they support it?
