Neath Town Council

Neath Town Council Neath Town Council is a community council serving the centre and surrounding area Neath is a compact, classic market town with charm and character.

Neath Town Council is a community council serving the centre and surrounding area. The Romans established a fort in Neath in circa 75 AD and a Norman castle was built around 1100 AD. The town was awarded a historic charter in 1280 by Gilbert de Clare, Lord of the Borough, this being the first official protection of the town as a trading centre. The historic character of the town is evident from it

s built environment and street patterns, a legacy of previous times. Today it is an attractive historic market town with a Victorian Market and major multiple retailers at the core of the commercial area. Neath has excellent transport links with main line railway connections to London, Cardiff and Swansea while the M4 motorway is a short distance away. The A465 'Heads of the Valleys' trunk road passes close to the town and gives access to the Midlands and beyond. Regular bus services link the town to the surrounding valleys. Neath also has a unique rugby heritage, the Welsh Rugby Union was inaugurated in the town's Castle Hotel in 1872, and the town's senior club is among the oldest in Wales.

See the post below for more information and how to contact her!

There is an increasing push from the Welsh Government and from the global community via the SDGs (global sustainable development goals) to close the β€˜grey divide.’ Rhian Bowen-Davies, the Older People's Commissioner for Wales, came to my university this year and spoke about how one of the biggest problems for older people was the use of the internet. There are a range of reasons for this, including families living in different towns, technological wearable devices, and things being increasingly online, from bus passes to bills; it is a key issue for many.

Neath Town Council is looking to address this. We will be running workshops on specific topics regarding digitization for the elderly. These workshops will include the topics above and many others. There will be a presentation on the topic, a chance for the older people to ask their questions, and then a workshop where they can try out these skills or get advice on other digital issues they may have. We are looking for volunteers to run and assist in these sessions. They will take place in the following locations, on the following dates:

Neath Community Centre, Orchard Street, SA11 1DU - 1st Thursday of every month

Neath Town Hall, 2 Church Pl, Neath SA11 3LL -2nd Thursday of every month

Cimla Community Centre, Afan Valley Close, Neath SA11 3AZ - 3rd Thursday of every month

Melincryddan Community Centre, Crythan Rd, Neath SA11 1TB - 4th Thursday of every month

Hannah Brier is now indisputably the fastest Welsh woman of all time.

The 28-year-old runner from Neath broke Wales' 200m record with a time of 22.79 seconds - beating the mark set by Michelle Strutt in Antrim 44 years ago in June 1982 of 22.80.

She now holds Wales' fastest 200m and 100m times, after setting the nation's fastest 100m record last year of 11.26 seconds.

Amazing. Congratulations Hannah πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
