This week's title 'No Shame' by Tom Allen, comes highly recommended by Laura:
'A much loved comic, Tom describes his 90's suburban upbringing in this charming memoir with characteristic warmth and caustic wit... His observations on adolescence, family and coming out will entertain you!'

We'd 💛 your feedback about running weekend Bookbug sessions at Nairn Library !!!
If you'd be interested in attending regular Saturday afternoon sessions from 13:00-13:30, please let us know in the comments!👇

'Bookbug Sessions are free story, song and rhyme sessions for children aged 0-5 years and their mums, dads and carers. Sessions last around 30 minutes and everyone is welcome!
Going to a Bookbug Session is a great way for families to spend time bonding with each other and meeting other families in their local area. Bookbug Sessions can also help to build children’s social skills and support their speech and language development. Most importantly, Bookbug Sessions are fun!' Bookbug

We 💛 books, so every week we showcase one chosen by a Nairn Library member.
This week's title 'Sorrow and Bliss' by Meg Mason, comes highly recommended by Carol who writes:-
'This novel is both hilarious and heartbreaking. It's a revelatory novel that tackles the impact of mental illness and the 'sorrow and bliss' of family life and marriage.'

We ❤️ books, so every week we showcase one chosen by a Nairn Library member.
Tying in nicely with our celebration of World Bee Day, this week's title 'The Beekeeper of Aleppo' by Christy Lefteri comes highly recommended by Alison who found the book powerful and thought-provoking.

Nuri is a beekeeper; his wife, Afra, an artist. They live a simple life, rich in family and friends, in the beautiful Syrian city of Aleppo - until the unthinkable happens. When all they care for is destroyed by war, they are forced to escape. As Nuri and Afra travel through a broken world, they must confront not only the pain of their own unspeakable loss, but dangers that would overwhelm the bravest of souls. Above all - and perhaps this is the hardest thing they face - they must journey to find each other again. Moving, powerful, compassionate and beautifully written, The Beekeeper of Aleppo is a testament to the triumph of the human spirit. Told with deceptive simplicity, it is the kind of book that reminds us of the power of storytelling.
