Cotswold Friends Our vision is that no older or vulnerable person in the Cotswolds is lonely or isolated We can also offer Community Transport in the Cirencester area.

We are a local charity providing friendship, support and transport to older and vulnerable people in the North Cotswold community. We aim to combat loneliness and isolation with our voluntary services, which improve health and wellbeing and support independent living. Cotswold Friends page is for sharing our services and our news with the Cotswold community (please see the map on our website for t

he areas we cover). Could we help you? Our seven services offer Community Transport, Befriending, Carer Support, Independence Support, Hospital Support, Community Activities and Intergenerational Projects. If you would like to know more, or think we might be able to help you or someone you know, please do get in touch. Could you volunteer? We always need more volunteers so if you are looking for a volunteering role to support your local Community we would be delighted to talk to you. Your commitment can be as little as an hour a week, or more if you have the time. We would like to thank all of our funders and sponsors and everyone who fundraises for the organisation, making it possible for Cotswold Friends to deliver services to the North Cotswold and Cirencester communities that support over 2,000 older and vulnerable people.

💜 Carers Week: shining a light on our Carer Wellbeing volunteers 💜

This Carers Week, we want to recognise the incredible unpaid carers in our communities — and the wonderful volunteers who help support them.

Our Carer Wellbeing volunteers provide friendly companionship to the person being cared for, giving unpaid carers valuable time to pause, rest and take a moment for themselves.

It may be a chat over tea, a shared activity, or simply spending time together — but that support can make a real difference to both the carer and the person they care for.

To all our Carer Wellbeing volunteers, thank you for the kindness, patience and time you give. Your support helps carers feel less alone and reminds them that they are cared for too. 💛

💜 Volunteers’ Week: Thank you to our amazing volunteers 💜

This Volunteers’ Week, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to every single person who gives their time, kindness and energy to support Cotswold Friends.

From Community Transport and Befriending to Community Activities, Support Services, fundraising, admin, trustees and so much more — our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.

Your dedication helps people stay connected, independent and supported across our communities. Every journey, visit, phone call, activity and act of kindness makes a real difference.

We simply couldn’t do what we do without you.

Thank you for everything you give. 💛

🚐 Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Simon 🚐

Today we’re shining a light on Simon, one of our fantastic Community Transport volunteers.

Simon supports our service by driving both our WAV vehicles and providing volunteer car journeys, helping clients get to where they need to be safely and with confidence.

Our volunteer drivers provide a vital lifeline in the community — helping people stay connected, remain independent and attend important medical appointments they may otherwise struggle to reach.

For many clients, it’s more than just transport. It’s reassurance, kindness and support from someone who truly cares.

Thank you, Simon, for always being so willing to help and for going above and beyond for the people we support. 💛

💜 Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Sarah 💜

Today we’re shining a light on Sarah, one of our wonderful Support Services volunteers.

Sarah has been a Carer Wellbeing volunteer for nearly three years, offering friendship, conversation and regular companionship to someone in our community. From chatting over tea to completing jigsaws or birdwatching in the garden, her visits have become a much-valued part of the week.

This support also gives a full-time carer the chance to take a well-earned break, knowing their loved one is in kind and trusted company.

Our Support Services volunteers provide a truly vital service — helping people feel less alone, more supported and connected.

Thank you, Sarah, and thank you to all our Support Services volunteers for the kindness, time and care you give. 💛

💜 It’s Volunteers’ Week! 💜

This week, we’ll be shining a spotlight on just some of the wonderful volunteers who help make Cotswold Friends what it is.

Today, we’re celebrating Chris, one of our fantastic Community Activities volunteers, who plays a key role in supporting our Community Garden.
Thanks to his time, care and dedication, the garden continues to grow as a welcoming space for people to connect, learn and enjoy the outdoors.
We’d also like to say a huge thank you to all of our Community Activities volunteers — from lunch clubs and friendship cafés to garden projects, groups and activities, your support helps bring people together and makes such a difference across our communities.

Thank you for everything you do. 💛
