A huge congratulations to Councillor Shuile Syeda on becoming the new Mayor of Merton.

Shulie was a wonderful supporter of Merton and Morden Guild during her time as Deputy Mayor, and we are delighted to see her take on this important role. She has been a fantastic addition to our Guild family, always taking the time to support our activities and engage with our members.

We look forward to continuing our relationship throughout her mayoral year and welcoming her to many more Guild events. It's always a pleasure when Shulie pops in to see us – we are very fond of her and greatly appreciate her warmth, enthusiasm, and commitment to our community.

Congratulations, Mayor Shulie Syeda, and best wishes for a successful and enjoyable year ahead!

A huge thank you to Councillor Martin Whelton as he completes his term as Mayor of Merton.

We are incredibly grateful for all the support he has given the Merton and Morden Guild over the past year. We've had a fantastic time welcoming Martin to our events and sharing the work we do within the community.

Thank you for attending our events, taking an interest in our work, and supporting the Guild and the people we serve. Your encouragement and commitment to the local community have been greatly appreciated by everyone involved.

We wish you all the very best for the future and thank you once again for a wonderful year of support.

Monica Carter.
We were very sorry to hear that Monica Carter has passed away at the age of 90. Married to our piano man Paul for 63 years having originally met at a youth club. She was a regular attendee at the Guild and we send Paul and his family our condolences.
Monica worked for many years at the British Council and Latterly as an Administrator at local day centres and a community minded lady.

The Mitcham Carnival - Sunday 7th June 2026.
The weather gods smiled on us all at the Mitcham Carnival and a busy event was enjoyed by those who attended. We were very pleased to have a popular stall and to be visited by the Mayor and Merton (also our Ward Councillor) Shuile Syeda and also Haydon the Womble, AFC Wimbledons Mascot.
With a wide ranging array of attractions from a Fun Fair, Live Music to community group stalls there was much to like so and eye out for next years Carnival.
