Speaking on the proposed HWRC site in Tattenhoe Park

It looks like the planning application has gone in for a new recycling centre/tip at Wolverton. Is this in addition to the proposed one at Snelshall, I can’t recall if they were consolidating Wolverton into Snelshall or building 2 new ones?

‼️Update on the Proposed Waste Site at Anderson Gate‼️

Cllr Shazna Muzammil followed up on the questions I raised at Cabinet in MK council — here’s what we've been told so far:

♻️The land transfer from Milton Keynes Development Partnership to Milton Keynes City Council took place on 29 May 2025, meaning both plots at Anderson Gate are now in Council ownership.

♻️Cost to the taxpayer: This is confidential and so details can't be shared with the public.

♻️No Stamp Duty was paid — MKDP relied on legal precedent to confirm exemption due to this being a group company transfer.

♻️Environmental and ecological surveys are planned, which is standard ahead of a planning application — especially important here, as the site sits in Flood Zone 3 and a designated wildlife corridor.

♻️The planning application is expected in Winter 2025. The residents will then get an opportunity to share your thoughts around the proposed HWRC on the planning portal.

♻️Community Liaison Groups for the North site are being set up ahead of September 2025. I’ve asked when this will happen for the South site and am awaiting a response.

We will keep sharing updates as they come. If you have concerns or want to stay involved in the discussion, please follow this page: Say NO to the Waste Site in Tattenhoe https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61573906259825

Good morning everyone. Just a reminder that if you want to show your support to oppose the proposed recycling tip for paint, batteries and other household waste recycling on our beautiful Tattenhoe Park, next to the brook, please join us on Wednesday evening for a short time at the council offices.

Hello everyone,

The petition you signed opposing the new super site at Anderson Gate will be formally presented by us Cllr Shazna Muzammil and Cllr Manish Verma to Full Council on Tuesday 18th June, which starts at 7.30pm.

Residents will have the opportunity to ask questions from the council during public question time. To do this, please email [email protected] to book your slot in advance.

The petition has over 1500 signatures currently and we hope the Council listens to the strength of opposition and gives residents a proper chance to take part in a fresh, formal consultation — or better yet, reconsiders and looks for an alternative location altogether.

The link to the petition is here: https://www.change.org/.../say-no-to-super-site-waste...

The cllrs have been dropping off letters with more information and hope to see many of you there on the night to show your opposition.

If you would like us to ask a question, do let us know, and we can do that for you.

As residents we need to rally around the councillors and make the council see that they need to rethink this.

‼️UPDATE ON THE SUPER SITE WASTE RECYCLING CENTRE‼️

Hello everyone,

As you may know, WSP has submitted a request for a formal screening opinion, but they are of the opinion that an Environmental Impact Assessment is not needed.

Initially, I was under the impression that we could comment on this, but I was told that this is not up for consultation, so have held back on encouraging residents to submit comments.

However, as ward councillors I have done the following –

➡️Emailed WSP and asked them to clarify how the overlooked phases in Tattenhoe Park 5 and 6 will now be factored into their assessments. I also raised that whilst their report acknowledges 960 daily vehicle movements associated with public access to the HWRC, I note there is no assessment of HGV movements associated with the transfer of collected waste from the site to other locations.
These should all be considered, particularly in terms of the scale and cumulative impact of the development on residential amenity, noise levels, traffic flow, and community infrastructure.

➡️Emailed Parks Trust to make them aware of this application for an EIA and they have responded to me confirming the receipt of my email.

➡️Emailed the planning officer my thoughts and have asked that it be annexed as ward councillor comments. If it isn’t, then I will share a copy of that email here.

➡️Emailed both Bellway and Countryside to make them aware of this application.

➡️Emailed the Director of Environment and Property and have asked for a meeting to further discuss this.

➡️Raised this with Cranswick Food as they might have some concerns.

➡️My colleague raised the issue of the EIA with the Director of Planning and Placemaking. He has emailed us a detailed explanation around it, for which I am grateful.

Apart from the two responses received, I am yet to receive anything else from any of those whom I reached out to. We will keep you informed as soon as we know more.

In the meantime, if you would like to ask a question at full council on the 18th of June, you can email [email protected] and let them know you would like to ask a question. If you give them advance notice of the question, they will have a response ready for you which will be helpful to you.

The request for a formal screening opinion along with other reports they have submitted are available on this link https://www.be.milton-keynes.gov.uk/.../a0lQH00000383Bt

If you’ve got any questions or want to chat more about this, feel free to reach out to me or Cllr Manish Verma We’re here to help however we can.

The Labour administration of Milton Keynes City Council has pushed through their vision for two new household waste centres in Tattenhoe and Wolverton, disregarding the concerns of hundreds of residents.

Council meeting 5th March 2025

Our resident call in team!! Long four hour meeting, 6 call in parties over 1300 signatures on our petition, and the Labour council still voted to push through without further scrutiny or looking for other alternatives.

Thank you Danny, Mick and Shan. 🙏👏
