What a fantastic week!
on Tuesday I had the pleasure of attending an awards ceremony at the Torch Theatre for achievers across West Wales as a whole, organised by the Western Telegraph publisher.

Friday I had the true honour and privilege of handing out our own Milford Haven Citizen Awards certificates, each one well and truly deserved. We are very fortunate to have citizens in our town like this. Very well done to each and every one of you, and a special thank you to our very own Ant and Dec - Councillors Colin Sharp and Vicky Hammett who did a splendid job as usual.

Saturday was my Mayoral Civic Service at St Katherines and St Peter's Church. It was a an utterly superb day that will remain with me for the rest of my life. Cllr Yvonne Southwell and Colin were ushers.
I do need to say an extra special thank you to Cllr Colin Sharpe who was not only at the awards, and an Usher, but unbeknown to most had to sort out a lot of last minute things which enabled smooth running. A very big personal thank you Colin!

May I also just take this opportunity to thank all my fellow councillors who attended or supported both days, The Gelliswick Choir, Town band, Junior Town band the fabulous singers Wendy and Sam - (who's rendition of Amazing Grace is one of the most beautiful I have ever heard), St Katherines, The Pill Social and the Milford Bowling club for all their assistance in making this possible. There are so many more that deserve mentioning but the list is just too long, so if you were involved in anyway at all please accept my thanks here!
I'll post a few more pics later.

This message will upset some people and Im sure complaints will roll in about me. Apparently some councillors do not have a sense of humour so I have been forced to remove an obvious parody post on my own personal page. Rather than speak to me direct and explain their concerns, they complain to the Town Clerk.

Let's get this straight. 1) If my humour isnt to your taste, move on or speak to me direct. I got elected to get things done,(and I Will!) not on my jokes.

1) One of my two main themes this year is CHANGE (the other is pride in our Town).
2) This Council NEEDS to change. Like so many others (recognised by many other new Mayors and Cllrs), we have lost touch with our communities.
3) I am fed up of people asking what we do in, and for the town? Who are we? Where do we meet? How do I contact you? Oh do we still have A Town Council?
4) If you do not believe the above, then I humbly suggest you start going out (like you should be anyway) talking to and meeting the community you represent.
5 ) My post was a micky take of myself and some of the ceremonial Pomposity that goes with the honour and privilege of being a Mayor.

For too many years there has been too much Pomposity, lack of direction, hand wringing, bureaucracy, traditional old ways of working and unaproachability in both ours and many other community councils.

We are here to serve and fight for our communities, not sit on chairs saying "ooh I'm a Councillor".

I challenge ANY Councillor of ANY council to get out there and start working for your communities OR stand down.

Change is coming whether we like it or not. People are demanding change, change we must, and change we will especially here in Milford Haven.

I may be controversial, you may not like me or my humour (Which would never ever deliberately be offensive) but I believe passionately in Milford Haven, want to bring it back to life and want to see the changes so needed. I am fed up with Milford being put down, run down and fed up with PCC not paying attention to us.

Join me and take responsibility and pride in our town and help make and see change.. Or please walk away.

I am not taking aim at any one party by sharing this, but the facts are quite revealing. What is needed is sensible open reasoned debate over this hot topic and for many to realise the difference between illegal and legal migration.

A big thank you to my council colleagues for putting their trust in me to officially become the Mayor for this year during our meeting yesterday. Now currently Mayor Elect, I will assume full responsibility at our AGM on May 11th.
Also big congratulations to Cllr Kathy Gray who was voted in as Deputy Mayor and I look forward to working with her over the next 12 months. Mark

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending the presentation of The Kings Award for Charity, to Megans Star Foundation held at The Dizzy Bear on Milford Waterfront .This award is considered the MBE of charitable awards.

It is amazing to see a small local charity, in our small community receive such a major prestigious award. Representative for King Charles, the Lord Lieutenant of Dyfed Sara Edwards gave the award alongside the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, and the High Sheriff in his striking outfit. Well done to Nicola Harteveld, her team and the amazing youngsters there.
