Parc Taf Bargoed

Parc Taf Bargoed This is the official page for Parc Taf Bargoed. When these mines closed, the site was transformed into a country park.

Parc Taf Bargoed spans over 140 ha of what had been three collieries - Deep Navigation, Taf Merthyr and Trelewis Drift Mines. Now it is home to a variety of flora and wildlife. It has transformed from coal to nature. The park has been awarded Green Flag status in 10 consecutive years.

As my last day approaches of 3 years as the Park Warden at PTB, I’ve had the pleasure of working, meeting, and being supported by so many different people from all walks of life. I want to thank you all for making my time at the park really enjoyable and hope you continue to enjoy PTB as much as I have. Wishing you all the best! Many thanks, the Park Warden 😊

PTB would like to thank Huw from St John’s Ambulance for leading a very informative and important CPR and defibrillator course at the pavilion yesterday. We’re sure all that attended the session left with a better understanding of CPR and are now more confident in using this vital piece of life saving equipment.

Today is the start of
🌼
We've lost around 97% of our wildflower meadows since the 1930's and according to last year's State of Nature Report insects such as butterflies, moths, ladybirds and ground beetles have declined by 65-70% in recent decades.

This may you can help by doing nothing.

By letting your lawn grow throughout May and beyond, you are providing habitat for our insects and pollinators and helping lock more carbon away below the ground. With more than 20 million gardens in the UK, even small patches left wild can all add up and make a real difference for the wildlife we love.
