🚒 A little reminder about parking around Maybole Fire Station

We completely understand that finding a parking space in a busy street isn't always easy and we know that nobody sets out to cause problems for the emergency services.

However, last night our crew were called to an incident and vehicles parked poorly at both ends of the street restricted access for the appliance getting out of the station. This unfortunately caused a delay while the crew worked to get the appliance safely mobilised.

Even if there appears to be enough room for a car to squeeze through, a large emergency appliance may not be able to pass — and every second can matter when we're responding to a 999 call.
So, if you're parking near the station or on a narrow street, please take an extra moment to consider:
🚒 Could a fire engine get through here?
🚒 Is there enough room for it to manoeuvre?
🚒 Would parking on the opposite side leave sufficient clear space?

This isn't about blaming anyone — it's simply a request to a community we know supports us and the work we do.

🚒💦 Annual Hose Testing at Maybole Fire Station 💦🚒

It was that time of year again — our delivery hoses were put through their annual MOT! 🔧

The crew carried out our annual hose testing, giving each hose a thorough inspection and pressure test to ensure our equipment remains safe, reliable and ready for use when we need it.

As part of the process, we check for leaks, weak spots, damaged couplings and any other signs of wear or damage. The hoses are then pressure tested to ensure they can safely withstand their maximum working pressure.

While it may not be the most glamorous job in the fire service, it’s an important part of maintaining our operational readiness. Regular testing helps protect our crews, keeps our equipment in good working order and ensures that, when we need water, our hoses are ready to deliver. 💦

On Monday night, the crew attended Ayr Fire Station for a practical Road Traffic Collision (RTC) training session, focusing on the safe and effective extrication of a casualty from a vehicle on its side.

The session provided an opportunity to develop and refresh key RTC skills, including:
🔹 Vehicle stabilisation
🔹 Glass management
🔹 Cutting and extrication techniques
🔹 Casualty care and rescue techniques

A great session of practical training, teamwork and continuous learning. 👨‍🚒🔥

🚒 Save the Date! 🚒

We’re holding a Station Open Day in support of the amazing Fire Fighters Charity on Saturday 11th July, from 11:00am to 3:00pm.

There will be lots to see and do, with our partner agencies joining us throughout the day, giving everyone the chance to learn more about the fantastic work they do.

Bring the family along, support a fantastic cause, and enjoy a great day with us.

A huge thank you to our brilliant local children’s entertainer, Uncle Billy, who has very kindly donated his time to support the Fire Fighters Charity. We’d also like to thank our local food vendors, coffee suppliers and community groups, who are all coming along to support the charity and help make it a fantastic day for everyone.

We look forward to seeing you there! 🚒❤️

With Scotland now all but mathematically out of the World Cup, we thought it was the right time to bring the Challenge to a close.

Thanks to the incredible support of our community and everyone who took part, we've raised £275! ⚽💙

Every penny raised will go towards Andy's Man Club, helping them continue their incredible work supporting men's mental health and reminding men across the UK that it's okay to talk.

A massive thank you to everyone who donated, took part, shared our posts, and cheered us on. Together, you've helped raise money, awareness, and some important conversations.

While Scotland might have dropped out of the World Cup... you certainly didn't drop the ball. 💙

Jack decided to take on the challenge solo... and quickly discovered why most things are easier when you've got a mate helping out! 😂

After a valiant effort (and a few dropped balls), Ollie stepped in to lend a hand. The results weren't world class, but they definitely improved when there were two of them trying instead of one.......and that's kind of the point.

Life can feel a lot like this challenge sometimes. We all drop the ball now and then. We all have days when things don't quite go to plan. But having good mates around to support you can make a massive difference.

Well done to Jack and Ollie for giving it a go ⚽️

The atmosphere is building, the drinks are flowing. "No Scotland, No Party" is blaring and the support for the Challenge has been incredible.

It would mean we need just £45 more — only £9 per hour over the next 5 hours. When you break it down like that, it's completely within reach.
