Reform promised transparency and openness with Derbyshire Residents, what happened to that pledge?

This will no doubt hit those most vulnerable ild our commmunities including Shirebrook where more than half of the users are part of the most deprived groups. We need to invest in people and by closing these services Reform are doing the opposite!

Cllr Jack Bradley made this decision behind closed doors, no public consultation or information prior to this decision. With recent news that Nottinghamshire Reform will no longer talk to local press we are headed towards dangerous times.

Reform's Derbyshire County Council group was elected on a pledge to be open and transparent in its decision-making

Cllr Alan Graves, where do we begin?

These comments at a time of SEN crisis are appalling, rather than dealing with the reality and facing up to the challenge Cllr Alan Graves tries to divert and blame others.

The reality is, Alan Graves and his administration are failing to act effectively. Instead (with no expertise or evidence) they simply say the professionals are wrong.

This just puts vulnerable children in an even more difficult situation. He should apologise.

Alan Graves says there should be a national debate on the issue but is criticised by parents.

Charlotte Gates or Liz Truss?

Both lasted in their post 7 weeks but at least Gates didn't totally ruin the country, just wasted tax payers time, money and most importantly failed to act on the SEN crisis.

Gates has attended a quarter of the meetings she was due to attend, we find ourselves consistently asking this question.

'Is this really who the electorate need representing (or not representing at all in this case) them?' Voters deserve better.

Cllr Charlotte Gates, Reform councillor for the Swanwick & Riddings division, had been the support cabinet member for special educational needs

Reform UK friend of terrorists?

'The patriotic party' and the 'tough on terrorism' has had one Cllr exposed to being pen pal of one of the evil 9/11 architects. This is absolutely appalling and I desperately hope that Reform UK suspend him ASAP but based on their track record it will be too little too late.

This is the sort of thing that is allowed in Reform. What do you expect when the head of vetting formerly praised Adolf Hi**er?

This is just over the border and he holds a senior position. Could there be similar in Derbyshire?

EXCLUSIVE: Rory Green is now a senior Reform councillor in Nottingham, 10 years after hitting the headlines over correspondence with evil terrorist

Something, Something p**s up in a brewery...

If this doesn't highlight where Nigel Farage's priorities lay I dont know what will. This is the same MP that had previously been convicted of domestic abuse against his former partner.

Nigel Farage did not deem this serious enough to suspend the whip. However, dodgy business is where he will draw the line...

He is no friend of our communities where 30,000 people annually are victims of domestic abuse.

Reform are at it again. Just one year after the General Election, 40% of their MPs elected in July 2024 have since been suspended.

Disappointing to hear that the new Reform UK administration refuses to confirm they will not sell off the only remaining publicly owned care home in Derbyshire.

The selling off of assets will only increase cost for the taxpayers and residents of the care home, public services should be publically ran in order to stop the profiteering off the backs of the vulnerable.

Reform UK should reassess the previous decision that was made and reverse it immediately.

A Derbyshire council has insisted that if the planned sale of its Ada Belfield care home goes ahead costs will not be increased for the elderly residents as campaigners urged the authority to reconsider privatising the centre.

Reform doing what Reform does...

Targeting the vulnerable and needy, those that may not be able to fight back. A truly awful strategy for Reform to take, these services are vital especially in a changing world that demands people take up new skills.

Good to hear that community groups, unions and others are standing against this and hopefully it is revisited.

Reform Derbyshire save a whopping 0.007% of the councils whole budget...

Reform have claimed to 'save' taxpayers several thousands of pounds already citing combination of different roles and cutting of vital cabinet support roles. These support roles lead to good governance and ensure decision making is at a higher quality, something needed now more than ever.

Scrapping of the climate change committee will do irreversible damage and will only cause more time spend on scrutiny committees. It also the alleged savings do NOT address future costs as a consequence of scrapping this committee, including flooding compensation and grants which are sure to get greater.

Finally, they allege that the DOGE team headed by Nathaniel Fry will be visiting Derbyshire soon. Clearly this was posted prior to both his and the party chairman's resignation. Even Liz Truss lasted longer than the DOGE team at Reform HQ!

REFORM UK DERBYSHIRE SAVES £6,000 A DAY IN FIRST TWO WEEKS IN CHARGE

The Reform UK administration on Derbyshire County Council have already made a total of £88,348 of annual savings in their first two weeks in office.

This equates to almost £6,000 of savings every single day since council leader Alan Graves was appointed.

These annual savings have been made by:

Scrapping nine cabinet member support roles, delivering £67,824 in savings.
Abolishing the Improvement & Scrutiny Committee for Climate Change, Biodiversity & Carbon Reduction, saving £12,988 in allowances for the chair and deputy chair.
Amalgamating the roles of County Council Chair and Civic Chair, saving £7,536 in allowances
It is also understood that the newly announced DOGE unit will visit the council in due course.

The team of software engineers, data analysts and forensic auditors headed up by leading tech entrepreneur Nathaniel Fried will audit local government spending to increase transparency and ensure taxpayer money is spent solely on activity that benefits constituents.

Leader of Derbyshire County Council Alan Graves said:

“Just a few weeks in, it's evident that the previous Conservative administration in Derbyshire had lost control of spending. We were elected on a clear mandate to deliver efficiency savings in order to reinvest in local services and we’re getting on with the job.

“In this short time, we have delivered almost £6,000 of savings every day. This is just the start and we look forward to welcoming the DOGE unit to the county and delivering even more cost savings for Derbyshire.”

This seems like an interesting headline for Derbyshire Live to be taking. Especially when Cllr Alan Graves was found to be guilty by an independent impartial committee (as well as video evidence!).

Perhaps the headline should be 'council leaders reckless actions breach rules and cost Derby taxpayers £7,000'. Seems far more accurate and a whole lot less bias!

The two-year long investigation has cost Derby taxpayers thousands 😲

A sign of times to come?

Reform appear to be avoiding all scrutiny and all responsibility, perhaps this is to wait for their marching orders from London?

The leader of Notts CC insists that this is to undergo relevant 'training'. Despite Reform Cllrs insisting that they wouldn't undergo these training sessions on climate change and 'DEI'. Despite a planned training session that WAS planned but also (shocker) cancelled as well!!

Reform have just cancelled all committee meetings for June at Nottinghamshire County Council including the cabinet meeting.

This leaves lots of things hanging since well before the election now (including our local survey on matchday parking).

YOU are being let down because the business of the council has been put on hold for unknown reasons and this will clearly have knock on effects on services.

Honestly the Reform administration is simply not doing its job. They had no answers to any questions at Full Nottinghamshire County Council meeting last month.

Reform were either never ready for power or scrutiny- or they are waiting for their overlords in London to send in their so called "DOGE" teams of software engineers to scrutinise the Council.

But scrutiny is what we are elected to do. The Labour Group is ready and waiting to get to work for our residents and hold this new council to account, as we have been from day one.

If Farage wants to save councils money maybe he should look at the allowances paid to his councillor leaders.

Cllr Mark Broadhurst - Doncaster

Just to the north of us we see another Reform Cllr lose the whip due to past social media posts. Rightfully so, he posted that Hi**er would have been a 'legend' if he had killed Muslims instead.

If Islamophobia is unacceptable within Reform UK then why has Cllr Dawn Abbot not yet been suspended? Instead she has only had PROMOTION despite Reform UK being aware of her previous remarks regarding Muslims.

It's getting clearer by the day that Reform UK is either Islamophobic or simply do not care carrying out two tier justice across councils.
