THAMES WATER FIXING THE LEAK AT TOP OF MARLOW HIGH STREET

I met the workman from Thames Water this afternoon fixing the leak at the Top of Marlow High Street.

The river of water we have seen over the last week was caused by a tiny copper pipe connecting the mains to one of the businesses in Market Square.

See pictures attached.

This is the second time we had a leak in this area and if there is a third leak within 12 months the whole water main will be replaced.

Just to say thank you to residents , Multiple Agencies including the Police , & Marlow Councillors for attending and contributing to last night’s meeting. 🙏

Anti-Social Behaviour is often a concern in local communities and Marlow is no different. It was interesting therefore to hear about the combined efforts of Thames Valley Police / Marlow Neighbourhood Police Team / Buckinghamshire Council / Cllr Alex Collingwood / Paradigm Housing / Red Kite and other groups at the forum held in Marlow on Thursday.

Good to hear that a multi-agency approach has been adopted and that there are plans to address the concerns of residents across Marlow.

The meeting was the first of what is planned to be a more regular effort to inform and involve the community. It's hoped to more widely promote such events in future (and notify residents by letter as not everyone is online). However, even with the short notice, there was good attendance by a number of residents and Marlow Town Councillors.

The importance of reporting incidents was emphasised, as without the authorities being informed it can be difficult to act. It was recognised though that there are times when making a report can be frustratingly slow. The recommendation is to use the online reporting facility, although it was acknowledged that not everyone has Internet access: https://www.thamesvalley.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb-v3/report-antisocial-behaviour/

A useful leaflet was provided which gives a number of contact details of who to report incidents to.

Higginson Park Centenary Celebrations

I was delighted as your Marlow Buckinghamshire Councillor & Chairman of Marlow Museum to welcome Dr Sheena D***s BEM ( DL) Deputy Lord Lieutenant , Cllr John Chilver , Chairman of Buckinghamshire Council, together with Lord Ashbrook and the descendants of General Sir George Higginson to the Centenary Celebrations yesterday ( Saturday 20th June ) which also coincided with the 200th Birthday of General Sir George Higginson.

The event centred around the Little Green Boat Cafe and children’s play area ; community events included Art in the Park , Marlow Ukulele Group, Esta B Jazz Band , Heritage walks with Marlow Museum , & Children’s activities with children’s author Simon Mole .

There was a ceremonial planting of a Green Pillar Oak to mark the centenary of Higginson Park by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Lord Ashbrook ( great-grandson of General Higginson ) & Philip McKenzie esq( great-grandson of General Higginson) , supported by the Inkerman regiment of the Grenadier Guards ( General Higginson was their commanding officer)

New information boards across the whole park have been created in collaboration between Buckinghamshire Council and Marlow Museum and very generously supported by Lightfoot Solicitors.

Thanks to members of the Higginson family, the museum has a special exhibition at the museum to celebrate the life of General Sir George Higginson available to visitors between today (Sunday 21st June) until 22nd July.

This was the first of a series of events in the park to mark the centenary over the next year.
