⚠️ASB - VEHICLES DOING 'DONUTS' AT GOSSMORE PARK

We have been receiving reports of vehicles doing 'donuts' late at night / early morning at Gossmore Park, Marlow.

The situation appears to have been made worse by vandalism to the entrance gate securing lock, which has now been replaced. It is hoped that will resolve the issue, but if anyone experiences further issues, or has information or evidence relating to the recent vehicle ASB, then please:

On Tuesday, Alexander James Contracts welcomed local residents, a representative from Red Kite Community Housing, and local Marlow Town Councillors to their Meet the Contractor event for the Shelley Road development in Marlow. The former garage site on Shelley Road will be transformed into two new two-bedroom affordable homes for rent, helping to provide much-needed housing for local people. The development will also deliver additional parking provision, including two dedicated spaces for each new home and six further spaces for visitors and local residents.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for residents to meet the Alexander James Contracts project team, ask questions, and share valuable feedback. Parking was one of the key topics discussed, and in response to the volume of comments received, Alexander James Contracts is exploring ways to deliver the new parking spaces earlier within the construction programme so that local residents can benefit from them sooner.

Residents also raised questions about delivery vehicles. Alexander James Contracts was able to reassure attendees that minimising disruption remains a priority throughout the project. Most deliveries will be accommodated within the secure site compound, with vehicles safely managed by designated banksmen. For any major activities, such as the delivery of the mainframe later this summer, residents will receive advance notification letters at least one week beforehand.

Thank you to everyone who attended, shared their views, and helped ensure this development delivers positive outcomes for both future residents and the existing community.

We are absolutely delighted that our new Mayor of Marlow has chosen DAM to be her charity of the year. To have the services and support that we offer local dementia sufferers and their families recognised by her, means such a lot, and will hopefully help spread the word even further within our community.

Thank you Mayor Jenny! We are grateful and humbled that you chose DAM.

Marlow Mayor Announces Local Dementia Charity as Chosen Charity for the Year

The Mayor of Marlow Town Council has announced her chosen charity for the forthcoming civic year will be Dementia Action Marlow, an independent local charity dedicated to supporting people living with dementia and their carers across the community.

Founded in 2020, Dementia Action Marlow has become a vital source of companionship, practical support and community connection for many local residents.

The charity runs weekly social sessions, providing a welcoming and supportive environment where people living with dementia can enjoy activities, social interaction and friendship, while carers are also able to access support and understanding from others facing similar challenges.

Mayor of Marlow Town Council, Cllr Jennifer Simnett, said:
“I am delighted to announce Dementia Action Marlow as my chosen charity for the year ahead. The work they do within our community is truly remarkable and has made a meaningful difference to so many local families since their formation in 2020.

Prior to the charity being established, there was very limited support available locally for people living with dementia and for those caring for loved ones. Their dedication, compassion and commitment to improving lives is something I am proud to support.

The Council and I look forward to working closely with the charity over the coming year to help raise awareness of dementia support services and support their fundraising and volunteer efforts.”

A spokesperson for the charity said:
“We are incredibly grateful to be selected as the Mayor's chosen charity. Community support is vital to helping us continue our work and reach more people who may otherwise feel isolated.”

Dementia Action Marlow is run by a dedicated team of volunteers. The charity is particularly keen to hear from anyone who may be able to volunteer as a driver, helping attendees travel to and from sessions. Residents interested in volunteering or supporting the charity are encouraged to contact Dementia Action Marlow directly via https://www.dementiaactionmarlow.org/

1 in 10 adults fall victim to fraud every year. Don't be one of them.

Doorstep fraudsters often target the elderly or vulnerable, cold calling at homes and persuading them to have work done that they do not need, such as gardening, repairs to a driveway or roof.

They often offer a very low price as part of a 'special deal' which will often dramatically increase once work is underway, with work left unfinished or to a very poor standard.

Contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 if you believe you or someone you know has been targeted.

⚠️ ASB UPDATE: YOUTHS ON MOPED IN MARLOW

Following a recent appeal for information, we have been able to identify 4 youths riding a burgundy/red coloured moped in the Shelley Road and James Close areas of Marlow.

Initial contact with parents of the youths, appears to have had the desired effect with no further reports of similar activity. We still hope to identify 2 girls who were riding with no crash helmets.

🙏🏻Thank you to all members of public who helped to provide us with the information necessary to help us address the issue. We will not tolerate Anti-Social Behaviour and will always look to deal it swiftly and robustly.

Due to the hot weather and our commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our collection crews, waste and recycling collections may be delayed today as our operatives will need to take more frequent breaks to prevent heat stress and exhaustion.

Please leave your bin out until it has been emptied and help to spread the word to friends and neighbours who may not be on social media.

Thank you in advance for your assistance and understanding.
