What are we looking for:
• We are searching for volunteers of all ages, genders and backgrounds
• We are searching for volunteers who like to get ‘stuck in’ and have an opinion on how their community is run and how you feel as a team we can make a difference

Can you commit to 12 mornings a year?
• That’s just one morning a month of your free time to make a difference in your community

• Meet new people and learn new skills

At the request of Market Drayton’s Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team (SNPT), Market Drayton Seniors’ Enterprise (MDSE) is organising and promoting a Cyber Crime & Scam Awareness Exhibition for the general public. The SNPT is particularly keen to focus on scams frequently directed at society’s elderly and vulnerable residents, so if you know someone who has been a victim of a scam either over the phone, online or even at their own doorstep wouldn’t you like to help?
• Do you want to avoid being scammed?
• Is it a scam? - How would you know?
• Should you really give out your personal details over the phone or internet?
• Can someone help? Anyone? I’m not sure if I’ve been scammed or not?
If these are questions you have asked yourself then come along to this event, here you will meet with Organisations striving to keep you safe and Scam free!

The 'Festival of Health and Wellbeing' at the Festival Drayton Centre was a tremendous success last year with over 200 visitors and 30 stands, much of that success was down to the support form the SECC, for which Market Drayton Senior Enterprise is most grateful, so successful in fact we are planning on doing it all again, so please put in your diaries the 10th May 2017.

Hi everyone.

We are Market Drayton Seniors’ Enterprise, a NOT FOR PROFIT voluntary Social Enterprise organisation located in your Town. As increasingly stringent budgetary pressures are imposed on local authorities by Central Government, services provided are inevitably reduced for residents of Market Drayton and beyond. Market Drayton Seniors’ Enterprise was created to ensure that any adverse community impact, particularly on vulnerable elderly residents, will be identified and, whenever possible, minimised. Promoting social inclusion to improve health and wellbeing, this is at the heart of our work. Our Team is made up of volunteers who present our cause at many influential meetings.This enables us to bring about change on the most pressing issues brought to our attention: currently transport and health.

Our current project is negotiating for a Market Drayton Community Vehicle back-up service for when someone needs essential transport, but an alternative is not available.

We are now seeking volunteers from all walks of life to help us bring about a positive change for the residents of our Town. Our priority for 2017 is to provide a permanent Seniors’ Activity and Advice Drop-In Centre. This needs to be prominent in the Town Centre so that it is readily accessible for the elderly residents of our Town. It is envisaged that activities will include a variety of interests, board and other games, with hot and cold drinks available. Advice will cover whatever is needed by way of adult support services. We anticipate providing a ‘shop window’ and outreach services for many organisations that do not have a presence in Market Drayton, Residents can drop in and discuss anything that is a concern for them - from transport, loneliness, health and wellbeing issues to dying matters awareness ………. The list could be endless as it will move with the times and needs! Dedicated sessions on each will be publicised well in advance and held on a regular basis.

What we need from our wonderful volunteers is just a little bit of your ‘Time’.

Firstly, are you a carpenter, Odd job man/lady, decorator, electrician or builder willing to give a ’little bit’ or ‘more if possible’ of your time, free of charge, to help us get our Drop-in up and running?
Are you a resident of Market Drayton who is prepared to pick up a brush and sweep up or help paint our Drop in Centre?
Are you someone who could join our Management Team in an advisory capacity? (full details on our page)

While our Social Enterprise wishes to gain from your personal expertise, a volunteer can expect to gain access to a vast network of voluntary organisations, providing an opportunity to increase knowledge and awareness across a broad spectrum of issues.

Do you support the cause of any organisation having a relevance to the elderly, but does not have a presence in our Town? - With your help we will provide that presence six days a week.

Please Help us bring this vision into reality? Even if you can only spare an hour it will make all the difference to the elderly of OUR town ..

VOLUNTEER VACANCIES at MARKET DRAYTON SENIORS’ ENTERPRISE

We are seeking volunteers to join our Management Committee in an advisory capacity.

While our Social Enterprise wishes to gain from your personal expertise, a Volunteer Advisor can expect to gain access to a vast network of voluntary organisations, providing an opportunity to increase knowledge and awareness across a broad spectrum of Health and Wellbeing issues. While focusing mainly on the neglected needs of the elderly, this is not exclusively the case.

One such instance is our work, in conjunction with North Salop Wheelers, negotiating terms with Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Councils enabling the best possible alternative Community Transport service following the axing of Arriva’s 341/342 routes connecting Market Drayton with Telford, taking the opportunity also to restore a link between Whitchurch and Market Drayton.
