Eek 😥

It’s a worrying time 🕰️.
How has it come to this …

Locally, my experience has been poor in Cliftonville.

After 2 years of complaints and a petition which has been blocked 🚫: fly tipping, street cleaning & antisocial behaviour continues with no solutions: with antisocial behaviour escalating over the summer with fires, gang fighting etc across Thanet. This affects your wellbeing, quality of life and holds back a community from growth.

All of these issues are not new, they are not being tackled to create solutions for Thanet residents and have become worse over the years.

What can we do as a community?

Anti social behaviour
A complaint has been lodged with TDC. We still do not have any information on the actual details of the rejection, merely that it was on a technicality. The petition contained a ten 🔟 step plan to reduce anti social behaviour which would improve our quality of life.

The rejection is neither measured nor reasonable given TDCs lack of activity & investment over many years, to tackle anti social behaviour. TDC remains in breach of their public duty of care.

My concern grows as critical documents eg housing strategy remain out of date, third party agencies are not being stress-tested on delivery, there is little progress on cross party working with the police👮‍♀️and KCC to improve our quality of life.

The next step is the local government ombudsman followed by instructing a social justice charity to take this matter to court.

Waste removal
I will be following up 🆙 on the fly-tipping & over flowing bins 🗑️. I do think by now the affected areas on Northdown Road should have had a pressure wash 🧽.

The proposed solutions are that TDC secure with its central government funding, empty assets eg Kwik fit garage and create a central community hub.

I will also be asking how much central government funding (public money 💰) over the 15 years has been invested in Cliftonville & Margate, details & outcome of these projects and how the public has been made aware of the pots of cash; and how much consultation has taken place.
