The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) is ‘a safer place to work’ after making a series of improvements as part of a legal agreement with Britain’s equality regulator.

We, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), signed the agreement with the WRU in November 2024, after an independent review of the sport’s governing body in Wales found aspects of the workplace culture were ‘toxic’ and sexism, racism or homophobia were not adequately challenged.

The legally-binding agreement set out the actions the WRU needed to take to address the concerns raised and improve protection for employees from discrimination and harassment.

Having monitored the improvements made by the WRU, we have now assessed that enough progress has been made to conclude the agreement.

Festivals should be a place where everyone can have fun and make lasting memories. We took action against Live Nation after disabled festival-goers reported problems with being able to see the stage, a lack of accessible toilets, and event staff who questioned their disabilities.
We entered a legally-binding agreement to ensure necessary changes were made at festivals like Reading and Leeds, Download, and Wireless. Following two years of monitoring, we are content that fans will notice tangible improvements, including sensory calm spaces at all festivals and better customer care.

These changes give disabled people an opportunity to have their voices heard and enjoy festivals just as easily as anyone else.

We have published our new assessments on the implementation of recommendations made by the UN in March 2025 as part of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) monitoring process.

From the right to enough to eat, good healthcare and education, to the right to a fair wage and a decent place to live, our economic, social and cultural human rights are essential for life.

We have published 57 new assessments evaluating progress made by the UK and Welsh governments. 33 focus on UK government action. While there has been progress in some areas, there are important gaps, such as :

- access to maternal health services, in particular for ethnic minority women
- availability of affordable childcare
- improving paternity leave
