This week has been another busy one, full of new experiences and inspiring people.
From meeting volunteer hosts with Wyre Forest Nightstop and sitting on an expert panel The Hive for World Empathy Day to the Worcestershire County-Council staff awards night and screening of The People’s Emergency film at West Malvern Social Club. Thank you to the organisers of all of these events and to the fabulous people who took time to speak with me.

Drowning doesn’t always involve swimming – slips, trips, and falls near water can happen in an instant. Staying alert around Worcestershire's rivers, lakes, and ponds could save your life.

That's why we're supporting Drowning Prevention Week 2026, with these tips from our friends at the Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK

Think before you enter – is the area safe? Consider potential hazards and enter slowly and carefully.

The water is often colder than it looks, think carefully about your ability to splash or swim in cold outdoor water. Are you really a good swimmer?
Stay within reach – don’t go too far and stay within a standing depth
Always be supervised – seek lifeguarded areas and always make sure someone is available to raise the alarm
