Rachel Edwards, Powys Head of Service Welsh Ambulance Trust, has written to the council with the result of the consultation.
There will be a 2 man 24 / 7 ambulance at Machynlleth!
I call that a result!
Many thanks for the support 😃

Dear All.

Can we please take this opportunity to thank you all for your support in trying to maintain 24hr, 2 man, Paramedic Ambulance cover at Machynlleth Ambulance Station.

The turnout at tonights council meeting was excellent and it's humbling to hear how appreciated the crews are within the community.

We've lost so many health resources from Machynlleth over recent years such as hospital beds, 24hr minor injury departments, midwife delivery rooms, GP out of hours cover etc that the Ambulance Station is the last resource available to us and it's vital that we do everything within our power to fight for what every Man, Woman and Child in the UK rightfully deserves and should expect.

We would like to thank Cora Edwards for organising the petition and presenting it to the Welsh Ambulance Trust this evening. We hope that over 2000 signatures, almost the entire population of the town, will hit home how vital the service we provide is within the Dyfi Valley.

We can't be everywhere at once and we can only deal with one emergency at a time. There will be times when more than one emergency takes place at the same time and some people will have to wait for the next available resource to get to them. By maintaining 24hr cover at Machynlleth, we can try and ensure that these cases are minimised and don't become the norm if the station is closed.

We expect to face a big fight over the coming months but with the help of the community and local, regional and national press, we're hopeful that we can maintain the 24hr service in Machynlleth.

Thank you for your continued support.

Most of Powys is mountainous and although the majority of the population live in villages and small towns, there are many farms and dwellings in remote areas of the county.
Please remember the towns in comparison with each other when you attend the meeting tomorrow night.

Please come and show your support on Monday evening.
We are able to attend the council meeting but unable to voice opinions.
But a good show of support will get people thinking that we will put up a fight !!
