86 years on, RAF Lossiemouth personnel remember the selflessness and sacrifices made by former comrades in the Battle of Britain, where the RAF successfully defended the UK from the Luftwaffe.

A CXX Sqn crest was dedicated at the ceremony today, 30 years since the initial installation of the stained-glass crests for each squadron serving or having served at RAF Lossiemouth.

In the famous words of Winston Churchill following the battle; “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few”.

⚠️ Flying Notice ⚠️

On the 1st of October, RAF Lossiemouth is hosting MOD Industry Partners and RAF colleagues for an internal 'Industry Day'. As part of this there will be a short display over our station by RAF aircraft to showcase the UK's aerial capabilities to our guests.

Details and timings are still being confirmed. Any road closures will be confirmed by Police Scotland and Moray Council closer to the date.

Spotters are advised to follow the safety guidelines published in comments.

An A400 Atlas from RAF Brize Norton will be operating out of RAF Lossiemouth over the next two weeks as part of Exercise Cobra Warrior.

Estimated hours of operation are 0900 - 1900. Timings and locations of flights may vary depending on exercise requirements.

⚠ Flying Notice ⚠

A Chinook from 28 (AC) Squadron will be low-flying around RAF Lossiemouth and the surrounding area tomorrow (10th September) as part of Exercise Kukri Dawn.

🐴 We advise horse riders to wear hi-viz during hacks
(rider and horse!) so the pilots can see you and divert
accordingly during their sorties.

Timings are not yet confirmed but the activity is likely to be between 1230-1430. The aircraft will travel to Lossie from Leuchars Aerodrome where the Exercise has been based.

The RAF Lossiemouth Catering Team cooked up a storm at this year's RAF Culinary Competition and Annual Awards! 👨‍🍳👩🏻‍🍳

Having spent 3 months preparing for the event, their hard work has paid off, with the team taking home a grand total of 7 awards - gold in the ‘Open Bakery Skills’ for a 'Multi-Breads' display, silver ‘Best in Class’ for the ‘Cook and Serve’ team award where the team prepared a torched mackerel starter and fillet of beef main course, three bronze medals for ‘RAF Senior Chef of the Year’, ‘Open Hot Dessert’ and the ‘Junior Chicken’ category, a ‘Certificate & Merit in World Food’ and the ‘Overall Senior Steward of the Year’ Award.

A huge well done to the team 👏

FORE! ⛳

🏆 The 3rd Annual Veterans' Golf Tournament was met with fine weather, great company, and two days of competitive sport with a range of prizes on offer.

Even the Station Commander couldn't resist getting involved in the fun 👏

£4000+ has been raised for Veterans' charities and future events - with the count still going!

Many thanks to Stu for organising, Hopeman Golf Club for hosting, and to all the local businesses who supported the event. We will see you all next year 🏌

⚠ Flying Notice ⚠

Next week (7th-11th Sep) our colleagues from RAF Valley are joining us for special training serials throughout the Highlands.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The Texan aircraft may be spotted operating over different areas of Scotland as they conduct pilot training. These sorties are essential in training future fighter pilots to secure our skies.

Remembering our fallen colleagues ❤

Members of CXX Sqn paid tribute yesterday to the tragic loss of the seven crew that were killed in the RAF Nimrod crash in Toronto on 2nd September 1995 and the fourteen crew who lost their lives in the Nimrod crash on the same date in 2006.

A memorial service was held at Morayvia Aviation Museum in Kinloss to commemorate the tragic events.

Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and colleagues of all involved - those we lost will be in our hearts forever.
