203 Squadron has reformed at RAF Lossiemouth!

🇬🇧 Previously disbanded in 2014, His Majesty the King approved the reformation in July 2025. The Squadron has, this week, announced it will be led by Squadron Leader Mennie.

🌍 The Squadron will provide engineering support to the Lossiemouth ISTAR aircraft, enhancing operational capability and ensuring serviceability so we can continue to secure the skies at home and abroad.

🔧 So next time you see a Poseidon (or Wedgetail once they enter RAF service) take to the skies... this is the Squadron on the ground making it happen!

📖 Congratulations to Sqn Ldr Mennie on his appointment as OC, and welcome back 203 Sqn - we look forward to seeing what you can add to your Squadron's legacy!

Our Annual Formal Reception offers an opportunity to show our gratitude to local partners and businesses who contribute to, and support, Station activities.

Welcomed to our Officers' Mess by the Station Piper and RAF Regiment Band, guests spent the evening meeting key station personnel and were treated to a twilight parade with a flypast by a Typhoon and Poseidon.

Thank you to all those who joined us for a wonderful evening, and to all of our personnel who were instrumental in organising the event.

Our thoughts are with our Royal Navy colleagues, and the friends and families of the fallen, during this difficult time. 🇬🇧

We can confirm the names of the three members of the Royal Navy who tragically lost their lives during a helicopter training exercise on Wednesday 3 June.

They are:
Lieutenant Commander Chris Gayson, 42, Somerset
Lieutenant Lily-Mae Fisher, 31, Surrey
Petty Officer Owen Green, 24, Hampshire

All three dedicated their lives to serving the Royal Navy and their country. Our thoughts remain with their families, friends and colleagues at this time.

Collaborating with NATO Allies to bolster our defence of the High North

Poseidon Squadrons have been participating in Exercise Dynamic Mongoose - an anti-submarine and maritime protection exercise combining force elements in the air, on the sea, and below the surface.

Operating off of the coasts of Iceland and Norway, the exercise involved robust communication and collaboration between the participants to ensure mission success.
